The Muldrow Bulldogs were looking forward to kicking off the 2024 football season and leaving the memories of 2023's 1-9 season in the past. And they got off to a hot start and looked like a team primed for a major bounceback season. Muldrow went 4-0 in the month of September to kick off the season. They went 3-0 in non-district play, winning every game by double digits and then they beat Eufaula in the district opener. But the calendar flipped to October and their record flipped as well. They went from going 4-0 in the month of September to going 0-4 in the month of October. Muldrow went from 4-0 to losing their next five games in district play. That would take them out of contention for the district championship but they would bounce back in the final week of the regular season. They beat Locust Grove in week ten to finish the season at 5-5. And there aren't many teams in Oklahoma that can end their season with a victory, most of them are the state champions but Muldrow was one of them. While the Bulldogs came up short on making it back to the playoffs, they still improved greatly from the previous season. And now, they can use those positive steps as momentum going into the new season. The Bulldogs expected to have a solid 2024 campaign and the expectations are going to continue to rise. And rightfully so. This is a team that could take another massive step in 2025.

2025 OUTLOOK

The Bulldogs come into the 2025 football season as the #9 team in our Class 3A preseason rankings and they have several reasons to be optimistic about a potential playoff run. Ten starters return on the offensive side of the ball. And this was an offense that averaged around 26 points per game. And that was a major step up as they essentially doubled their scoring average from 2023. And when you're talking about the Muldrow offense, the conversation is going to start with the quarterback position. The Bulldogs are going to feature one of, if not the most athletic quarterback in Class 3A this season. He'll need other guys to step up around him but he has the potential to produce at a very high level. Defensively, the Bulldogs also bring back ten starters from last year's team. And just like the offense, the defense improved from 2023 and there's no reason to think they can't take another positive step in 2025. Now, Muldrow has a very good chance of getting out to a fast start, similar to what we saw from them in 2024. But it's all going to come down to district play and what the Bulldogs do in October. If they expect to be a playoff team, they are going to have to turn some of those 2024 losses into 2025 wins. Their district features the top-ranked team, coming off back to back state titles but Muldrow should be a playoff team in 2025. It will be fun to see what their ultimate ceiling is this season.

Muldrow has quite a few skill position players to keep an eye on this season but they can't get the job done if they don't have guys putting in work on the line of scrimmage. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1725106' first='Braxton' last='Miller'] is one of a handful of guys to keep an eye on this season on the offensive line. He'll also be a factor for Muldrow on defense. This has been a solid offseason for Miller as he has turned into a legitimate college prospect, picking up offers and additional interest this spring and summer. Miller will anchor what Muldrow wants to be on the offensive side of the ball while also being a critical part to what they do defensively, starting on the line of scrimmage.

Muldrow returns two players that ran for ten touchdowns in 2024 and senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1725086' first='Deshawn' last='Wilson'] is one of them. Wilson enjoyed a breakout season as a junior last fall. Looking back at some of our notes, Wilson was a player that we didn't know much about but he would finish the season with nearly 600 yards and ten touchdowns on the ground. We mentioned earlier how Muldrow will have arguably the most athletic quarterback in Class 3A this season. Wilson will be a very solid running mate in the backfield. We already saw our first look at how truly dynamic this duo can be and they are looking to take their production up a level in 2025.

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1161908' first='Teaguen' last='Collins'] has the potential of being the most dynamic quarterbacks in Class 3A this season and it will be interesting to see how much he impacts Muldrow's season this fall. Last year, Collins was special, throwing for a little over 1,000 yards and running for 1,000 yards. He accounted for 10 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing touchdowns. Collins would turn around and was one of the team's leaders in tackles during the 2024 season from the safety position. It doesn't matter where he lines up on the field, Collins has the potential to be a game changer. We saw that from his older brother a few years ago and now Teaguen looks to lead the Bulldogs back to the playoffs.

2025 SCHEDULE

Sept. 5th - AT Roland
- For the sixth straight year, Muldrow opens the regular season against rival Roland. In week one, the Bulldogs hit the road to square off with the Rangers. The Bulldogs beat Roland 53-20 last year and it was their biggest margin of victory in 2024. They look to dominate again in the ‘25 opener.
Sept. 12th - Waldron, AR.
- In week two, Muldrow will welcome in Waldron from Arkansas and it will be just the second meeting between these two programs. Last season, the Bulldogs went over to Arkansas and came back with a 28-14 victory. They want to make it two in a row in this young series this fall.
Sept. 19th - Spiro
- Muldrow will wrap up non-district play at home against Spiro in week three. This will be the sixth straight year that these two meet in the gridiron and Muldrow is looking to improve to 3-3 during this latest stretch after winning 36-7 last season. A win also gives them momentum heading into district play.
Sept. 26th - Eufaula
- The Bulldogs open up district play with a home game against Eufaula in week four. This was a very entertaining game a year ago and Muldrow came out on top, winning 42-41. Eufaula was a new district opponent for Muldrow as these two hadn't met on the football field since 2017.
Oct. 3rd - AT Checotah
- After three straight games in front of the home fans, Muldrow goes on the road in week five to face Checotah. The Bulldogs lost a high-scoring, back and forth game against the Wildcats last season. In fact, in the last two meetings, Muldrow is 0-2 and lost by a combined four points.
Oct. 10th - Idabel
- The second half of the regular season kicks off with a home game against Idabel in week six. The Warriors were another new district opponent for Muldrow last year. Idabel prevailed 47-27. The last time these two were district opponents was 2017. Idabel will have a first year head coach.
Oct. 16th - AT Lincoln Christian
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Muldrow heads to Tulsa to face two-time defending champion and top-ranked Lincoln Christian. If Muldrow wants to become a 3A contender, here's the measuring stick. Lincoln has beaten Muldrow in each of the last three years and it hasn't been competitive.
Oct. 24th - Holland Hall
- It's the final home game in the regular season when Muldrow hosts Holland Hall in week eight. These two teams met for the first time last year and the Dutch won in a shutout, winning 38-0. For the Bulldogs, this is an opportunity to take another positive step towards making it back to the playoffs.
Oct. 31st - AT Stigler
- On a Halloween Friday night in week nine, Muldrow goes on the road to face Stigler. This will be the fourth straight year that these two teams met in district play and the Bulldogs are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Last year, they lost a close one, 14-9 and want to turn things around in 2025.
Nov. 7th - AT Locust Grove
- In the final week of the regular season, Muldrow goes back on the road to face Locust Grove. The Bulldogs wrapped up the 2024 season with a 22-20 win over the Pirates. This year, they're hoping a win gives them momentum heading into the playoffs. Locust Grove will have a first year head coach.

NOTABLE

We think there is a strong case that history repeats itself to a certain extent in 2025 and we could even see Muldrow take it a step further. In 2020, the Bulldogs only won a single game. They bounced back the following year, taking some positive steps and went 4-6. In 2022, they would go 8-3 and make the playoffs behind the dynamic play of Trenden Collins. Now follow us here. The Bulldogs went 1-9 in 2023. They bounced back last season with a 5-5 record and competed for a playoff spot a year after nearly losing all of their games. This season, they are going to be led by the dynamic [player_tooltip player_id='1161908' first='Teaguen' last='Collins'] and he's Trenden's younger brother. It's an interesting storyline as we get ready to kick off the season but Muldrow has to go out and do it on the field. But if the Bulldogs once again become a playoff team in 2025, they are going to be hungry to turn things around once they get there. Muldrow has lost in the first round in each of the last 15 appearances in the playoffs. There's only one other season where Muldrow won a playoff game and that was four decades ago in 1985, when they made a run to he 3A semifinals.
