A mauler up front that saw some time on the field as a true freshman for the Little Hawks, Goodrich will step into a full-time starting role this season on the left side of the offensive line. Goodrich is 6'5" and 265 pounds, and still has plenty of weight to fill out on his already-large frame. The soon-to-be sophomore has begun to hear from the Kansas State coaching staff. Don't be surprised if other offers start to roll in once coaches see what he's capable of on tape. A nice young man, Goodrich has a mean streak on the football field that will be advantageous for City High this season.

A young quarterback who will look to play his first full season of football this fall, Kabaiza has thrust himself into the starting quarterback conversation this summer. Still working to understand the ins-and-outs of the Little Hawk offense and to learn what it means to be a 5A varsity QB, Kabaiza may not be the favorite to land the job, but he's one of the better athletes City High could put under center.

If he doesn't play quarterback this season, don't count out Kabaiza's chances at seeing the field and contributing elsewhere.

Another sophomore that will contend for starting snaps under center, Kurtz and Kabaiza's skill sets are almost polar opposites. Kurtz, has a full year of the City High offense under his belt, has an excellent grasp of what he needs to do for the offense to be successful. Still growing, he has yet to tap into what he could do physically. If he can get bigger and stronger this offseason in order to take the hits and make the throws he needs to for the Little Hawk offense to move up and down the field, he could be hard to beat out.

Already referenced in Tuesday's article on five standouts from City High's practice last week, Sheldon's name is one you'll here connected to the Little Hawks for the next three years.

A linebacker and running back, Sheldon led the City High defense in tackles as a freshman last season, and his role is only going to increase further. A stalwart defensively, Sheldon finds a way to plug gaps in opposing offensive lines, is a hard-hitter and doesn't say a word when he does so.

As previously noted, he's also a natural runner of the football. Sheldon navigates space extremely well, and though the Little Hawks return [player_tooltip player_id='1361313' first='Dawson' last='Kahl'] in the backfield, the 2027 tailback will more than likely have to split reps with the up-and-coming sophomore.

A soon-to-be freshman that already stands over six feet tall and -- according to City High head coach Mitch Moore -- can drop-step dunk a basketball, the sky might be the limit for Jordan. I wasn't able to watch him much during live reps, but the athletic ability and frame is undeniable. For the time being, he looks like he'll have the opportunity to play some rotational reps at defensive end, and he could very easily play both sides of the ball in his career for the Little Hawks. Who knows? If he continues to grow physically, City High may have a starting left tackle down the road.

A legacy Hawkeye as the son of former Iowa tight end, Ryan Majerus, Joseph will begin his high school career this fall for the Little Hawks. Though he appeared to be a bit behind on the workings of the Iowa City High practice, Majerus is absolutely a name to watch. He may not jump onto the scene and rack up a ton of stats in year one, but his frame and fluid movement lend itself to him being a heavy contributor sooner rather than later on in his high school career. Majerus possesses a strong base, a long frame and natural athleticism that make it easy to guess he's a legacy Hawkeye.

Majerus will look to play a mixture of tight end and linebacker for the Little Hawks.
