Brebeuf Jesuit went on an almost-magical tear last season, compiling Madden NFL-like numbers on offense. The Braves scored over 49 points in six games, and finished 8-3 before losing to Indianapolis Roncalli in the first round of the sectionals.

Matt Geske's team is going to look a little bit different than last season. Gone is Geske's highly-productive quarterback and son, Maverick, who is at Indiana as a walk-on. So too is Taylor Clark - a vastly underrated receiver now at the University of Indianapolis. The good news is the Braves are plenty loaded in 2025. Here are two reasons they can bounce back and hopefully get to Lucas Oil Stadium.

Key players returning on offense. The Braves have some key returning players coming back on offense, notably wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='401643' first='Edwin' last='Watson'] and offensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1719377' first='Krystian' last='Oakley']. Oakley is a legitimate FBS prospect with excellent size and strength that he uses to create running lanes. Watson is a very good receiver who should fill-in nicely for Clark, and already holds three Division I offers. Keep an eye on 2028 receiver KeiVon Mattox, a promising underclassmen who should play a prominent role.

Key players returning on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1080792' first='Parker' last='Maiers'], a Dartmouth commit who held double-digit offers, is a high-quality returner who will lead the defense. Maiers is a stout run defender who is quick to close on ballcarriers, he has great instincts and can thump. Six-foot-one, 245-pound defensive lineman Brayden Neese returns on defense, as does outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1707070' first='Cam' last='Walters'] who racked up 60 total tackles and 4 interceptions as a sophomore.
