On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 I was personally invited back for the third consecutive year by Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Football Coach Anthony Van Curen to cover his Football Mega Camp. With many other universities now following suit with mega camps of their own, Van Curen's is the O.G. in the area and, quite frankly, everyone is just biting off his style. However, at this point the term “mega” is probably an understatement to describe his event.

In what I would consider more of a celebration of the game, between the 560+ prospects registered, 100+ college coaches watching, clinicians, parents, and high school staffs there were literally around 1000 people coming out to compete, make connections, and enjoy an evening sample taste of football. As has become the norm for Van Curen's baby, the event was organized, structured, ran well, and was highly competitive.

In addition to eyeing prospects up, measuring their combine performances (40-yard dash, Pro Agility, Broad Jump), I was fortunate enough to receive unimpeded access to the grounds to evaluate and scout the talent on hand. In this article, I share my notes for the position group mentioned in its title.

Morris Knolls is no stranger to quality football talent, and [player_tooltip player_id='1703242' first='Michael' last='Bemiss'] looks to carry that torch as he prepares to enter his senior season this fall. Bemiss came across as a hard-nosed, lunch pale type of player. In the limited opportunities I got to see of him, this linebacker continued to fight in order to keep up with backs out of the backfield on wheel routes - even managing to make a play on an poor, under thrown ball. Futhermore, false steps are an area of him to focus as he prepares for camp and OTAs.

Coming from Tuckahoe, New York was [player_tooltip player_id='1612387' first='Kilian' last='Curylo']. I thought that Curylo showed exceptional balance in his stance, never teetering or cheating any which way. This balance also allowed him to move in any direction well. I hope to see this rising junior use his hands more when covering receivers. In doing so, he will slow them down some, interrupt timing, and put more pressure on opposing offenses. I also thought that Curylo can stand do improve his footwork some.

Closing out is Isaiah Simpson, a Cheltenham, Pennsylvania product. Like many linebackers in camp setting, Simpson showed many positive traits and also some areas to continue to grow. First, I thought Simpson was aggressive when playing receivers' hands, particularly at the ball's apex. This always gave him a fighting chance to contest and break up pass attempts. This aggression would be well suited when defending receivers who are in their route - especially when they are squared up. Doing so will allow for further disruption and allow him to keep up with deeper routes (i/e: wheels) way down field. Furthermore, I thought that Simpson's pad level could improve a bit during agilities.
