As we get closer and closer to the start of the 2025 high school football season, we have begun a new round of rankings updates. The latest class to be updated in the state of Kentucky is the class of 2028. With these rankings being posted, I have been taking the past week to break these rankings down by position. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I will now turn my attention to the defensive side of the ball, starting with our top defensive linemen in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='1638814' first='Kellan' last='Hall'] is the top overall player in his class in the state of Kentucky. He lines up at defensive tackle where he is dominant against the run. Hall explodes out of his stance and uses his strength to drive straight through opposing offensive linemen on his way to the ball carrier. He has also proven that he has the speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle before they can get going. Hall was very disruptive as a freshman, finishing the year with 61 tackles and 21 tackles for loss in 13 games. He has also shown some impressive pass rush moves, finishing last season with two sacks and several quarterback pressures. Kellan currently holds several Power 4 offers and I expect that list to continue to grow over the next few seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='1638820' first='Logan' last='Meredith'] is a player who made an immediate impact as a freshman. He lines up at defensive end where he is very reliable against the run. Meredith does a great job of showing the patience to read the play then use his speed to get to the ball carrier with a sense of urgency. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler, finishing this past season with 35 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 11 games. He also finished his freshman year with two sacks. Meredith doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should be keeping a close eye on over the next three years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1299937' first='Julian' last='Smith'] is another defensive lineman who stood out as a freshman. Smith lines up at defensive end where he is very impressive against the run. He uses his strength to his advantage to stack and shed blocks with ease while finding the ball. Once he sees where the ball is going, he has shown the high motor to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle. Julian finished this past season with 45 tackles and seven tackles for loss in 12 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='952928' first='Kolin' last='Baker'] is the fourth and final defensive lineman who made our top 75. He caught my attention when breaking down freshman year film as he was very impressive as a pass rusher from the defensive end position. Baker has shown both the strength to bull rush straight through opposing offensive linemen and speed to run right past them on his way to the quarterback. He has also shown the ability to use his speed to run sideline to sideline to make t
