2028 Washington RB [player_tooltip player_id='1409030' first='Xavier' last='Mack'] should have a large role on the Patriots' varsity squad this season after showing a lot of potential as a freshman. Roster turnover will benefit Mack as a sophomore with more varsity opportunities coming his way this season. He did a nice job on their JV team in 2024 and can also provide reps at linebacker. Mack has the size and athleticism to develop into a future star on Friday nights as he progresses, and is an early top running back prospect to know in the 2028 class.

2028 Morgantown EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1656366' first='Grant' last='Robinson'] was a standout for the Mohigans' freshman team last season and debuts as the #3 prospect at his position. He was also impressive for a freshman at our Combine Series camp earlier this year and should make an impact on the varsity team sooner rather than later. Robinson is one of the more physically impressive 2028 prospects in this class and has developed well in the weight room thus far. That translated to physicality on the field as a primarily undersized interior defensive lineman who was too strong and powerful for most young offensive linemen.

A freshman varsity starting lineman to know from last season is Bluefield's [player_tooltip player_id='1625644' first='Ethan' last='Thompson']. He'll be a key piece in their trenches on both sides of the ball, which he showed as a young player. Thompson has good footwork for his age and has the early athleticism to develop into one of the better lineman prospects in this class. He showed versatility in where he could be lined up as a freshman and was trusted to play tackle, which speaks to how highly his coaches think of him.

A versatile 2028 athlete who will be moving from receiver to quarterback this season is Grafton's [player_tooltip player_id='1590026' first='Chace' last='Kinsey']. He showcased his athletic ability in year one as one of their top targets in the passing game, but will now orchestrate their offense as a sophomore behind center. Kinsey's athleticism will provide versatility on offense as someone whose legs can be utilized as much as his arm, if not more. He's done well this summer during 7-on-7s and should make an easy transition to QB1 this season.

A 2028 LB prospect who earned varsity playing time as a freshman on one of the best teams in the state last season was Spring Mills' [player_tooltip player_id='1211007' first='Nolan' last='Forrest']. He should see increased varsity playing time as a freshman on a very talented roster, which speaks to his ability as a young player. Size will be the biggest question for Forrest as a linebacker prospect moving forward, but his ability is obvious when watching his film. He's a fearless and aggressive player for his age, which are two traits we look for in young linebackers. He'll provide depth in the backfield on offense as well at running back, and should develop into one of their top players in time.

A future versatile skill weapon for Martinsburg to utilize when his time comes will be 2028 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1624353' first='Gage' last='Orem']. He performs well at both running back and slot receiver on offense and as a safety on defense. You saw that on the Bulldogs' JV and freshman team last season as one of their top playmakers among a very talented 2028 class in their program. Orem has a natural feel with the ball in his hands and flashed dynamic playmaking potential as a young player. His varsity opportunity may have to wait until he's an upperclassman, given how talented their roster is, but Orem may demand touches on Friday nights sooner rather than later.

His time behind center at the varsity level will likely have to wait with 2027 ATH/QB [player_tooltip player_id='895900' first='Brian' last='Dick'] taking over this season, but Ridenour has the athleticism to make an impact at other positions. Warren appears to be a future human highlight reel waiting to happen with the glimpses he showed last season during his first year of high school. That performance warranted a Top 10 WR ranking at this point in his young career, but future game film will determine which direction he moves in the rankings. Lowe flashed playmaking ability as a slot receiver at said camp and performed well during 1-on-1s among a talented skill group in attendance. He's a name to tuck away for later once he produces film, but he's sure to develop into a standout player on Friday nights for the Red Dragons.

2028 Wheeling Park offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1624397' first='Jeremy' last='Porter'] is likely to move up in our rankings once he produces game film. This is purely a placement ranking for him as we wait on film, but he has impressive size for his age and will likely be a varsity starter this fall for the Patriots. Porter is in the 6'5-6'6 range and upwards of 340 pounds, which is a trait that can't be coached and will appeal to colleges in the future. If he works hard at his development and steadily progresses over the next three years, he's likely to emerge as a top OL prospect in this class.
