With the 2025 high school football season quickly approaching, we are currently in another new round of rankings updates. The most recent class to be updated in the state of Kentucky is the class of 2027. With our new Top 150 posted, I have been breaking these rankings down by position. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I have now turned my attention to the defensive side of the ball. With the front seven already taken care of, here our top defensive backs in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217741' first='Allen' last='Evans IV'] is one of the top overall players in the state in his class. He is a long, athletic corner who locks down opposing receivers in man coverage. Evans does a great job of opening up and running with receivers to mirror their routes, staying in their hip pocket the whole time. When the ball is thrown his way, he has shown the ability to fight across the intended receiver to make a play on the ball, finishing last season with 11 pass breakups in 15 games. He also finished his sophomore year with 24 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Allen currently holds several Power 4 offers and I expect that list to continue to grow over the next two seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='378835' first='Jordan' last='Haskins'] is a player who has been on our radar for a while now and continued to stand out as a sophomore. Haskins lines up at safety where he is very impressive in pass coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback then breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play once it is in the air. Jordan finished this past season with four interceptions in 13 games. He has also shown the ability to fill the lane and provide support against the run, finishing his sophomore year with 80 tackles and one tackle for loss. Jordan also made an impact on offense last season, catching 13 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns while also scoring three rushing touchdowns. Haskins currently holds multiple Power 4/Division I offers and I expect more to come his way heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1596532' first='Elijah' last='Burns-Crump'] caught my attention at one of our camps this offseason and was just as impressive when watching his sophomore year film. Burns-Crump lines up at safety where he is very reliable in coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback and flowing through the secondary to put himself in a good position to make a play. When the ball is thrown his way, he has shown impressive ball skills, coming away with two interceptions in 15 games as a sophomore, returning one of them for a touchdown. He also finished last season with 20 tackles and two tackles for loss, and has shown the ability to play man coverage when asked to do so. Elijah currently holds offers from Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Toledo, Eastern Kentucky, and Miami (OH), and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314812' first='Cionne' last='Conn'] has been high on our radar since his freshman year. He lines up mainly at free safety but has shown the versatility to come down in the box as well. Conn is very reliable in coverage, showing the ability to read routes and flow through the secondary to put himself in a position to make a play on the ball. He came away with two interceptions in 13 games as a sophomore. Conn also finished last season with 38 tackles, two tackles for loss, and half a sack. Cionne currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, and UT Martin, and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop.

To wrap up our top five defensive backs in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='400890' first='Sekou' last='Kamara']. Kamara lines up mainly on the outside at corner but has shown the versatility to play inside at nickel as well. He is very reliable in zone coverage, showing the ability to read route combinations then break on the ball so the perfect timing to make a play when it is thrown his way. Kamara finished last season with 12 pass breakups in 12 games. He also showed the ability to provide support against the run, finishing his sophomore year with 41 tackles and three tackles for loss. Sekou currently holds offers from Appalachian State and Warner, and I expect more to come his way over the next couple seasons.
