New Academic Magnet head football coach Austin Miller has a simple goal for his first season.

"We hope to go out to compete in every game and make the playoffs," he said.

Coming off a 4-7 season, the Raptors seek just their third winning season in a decade. For that to happen, Miller will look towards his team leaders like four-year letterman [player_tooltip player_id='1811126' first='Cole' last='Ivey'] and Campbell Stoklosa.

With the Raptors shifting to a Pistol offense, look for Ivey to get more carries. Quarterback Owen George was the team's leading rusher last season in just six games.

Academic Magnet will have a young group upfront and on defense. Defensive back Stoklosa will look to provide vocal and active leadership.

This will put more pressure on kicker Tyler Perez to produce points. He was a perfect eight-of-eight on PATs and made three-of-five field goals.

"Everybody's got to buy into our new offense and really believe and just help each other,” Ivey said. "In the close games, we've just got to come together and put a last-minute drive together and win those games."

STARS SET TO SHINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1811126' first='Cole' last='Ivey'] RB, 2027

The 5-foot 10, 175-pound rising junior played in just two games last season. This year, head coach Austin Miller will greatly lean upon Ivey on offense. Against Baptist Hill, Ivey accounted for 151 yards on offense and special teams. He's demonstrated an ability to run, block and catch out of the backfield. He's also expected to see action at defensive back.

Owen George QB, 2027

As a sophomore, he was an "OG" on offense. In just six games, George amassed a team-high 871 total yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He was effective at RPO, pulling off long Redzone runs and making deep throws. George's running abilities could prove as valuable as his passing in the Pistol offense.

Tyler Perez PK, 2026 (pictured)

The 3-year letterman is a one-man kicking machine for the Raptors. He's responsible for field goals, punts, and kickoffs. He averaged 44.6 yards per kickoff with seven touchbacks last season. The 6-0, 170-pounder has also been utilized at wide receiver. He has 27 receptions for 317 yards in his career. Perez has even displayed passing and running skills when needed by his team.

Sam Peters LB, 2027

As a freshman, the 5-foot 10, 170-pound rising sophomore was a bright spot for the Raptors. He posted 48 tackles and two fumble recoveries at linebacker. Peters was also utilized as a blocking tight end who occasionally ran the football. Such style of play is a perfect fit for what's expected to be a run-oriented offense this fall.

FILM REVIEW

Campbell Stoklosa DB, 2026

The four-year letterman is one of the most vocal players on the team. He's also the most versatile, seeing action both at quarterback and wide receiver. Playing on both sides of the football gives him knowledge of the instincts of the opposing quarterback. This knowledge is something Stoklosa willingly shares with teammates to get them in position to make plays.

BIGGEST LOSSES

Keveon Ford LB – The 3-year letterman led the team with 101 tackles and three interceptions.

Max Peters OL – One of the Raptors' team leaders on the offensive and defensive line.

Dean McCullough WR – The team's leading receiver with 19 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns. He's now with the US Merchant Marine Academy.

UP-AND-COMING POTENTIAL

Bryce Lee WR, 2027 - After seeing action in one game as a freshman, Lee showed some potential last season. In 10 games, he amassed 192 total yards in receiving and kick return yards. At 5-foot 11 and 145 pounds, Lee's versatility gives the Raptors another potential playmaker on offense. After watching Lee in action, head coach Arthur Miller expects him to "turn the corner" this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604010' first='Caleb' last='Parrish'] LB, 2027 – The 5-foot 9, 154-pound rising junior took a major leap forward last season. In 10 games, Parrish was the Raptors' third-leading tackler (84). During the offseason, he had an impressive showing at the Carolina Coaches Combine at Woodland. He posted the highest vertical leap of 38.8 inches and his 4.79 time in the pro shuffle was among the 10 best among linebackers.
