All that's between us and another high school football season is a summer of conditioning and a few preseason jamborees. It's never too early for us to be looking ahead and we're going to do just that as well dissect who the MVP might be for each team in the state.

Here we look at Region V-2A. We've picked who we think will be every team's MVP this coming fall.

BARNWELL WAR HORSES
[player_tooltip player_id='1578317' first='Nehemiah' last='Brown'] RB, 2026

It might be safe to say that Brown should become the workhorse of the Warhorses attack. Head coach Brian Smith is expecting the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Brown to become a team leader and exceed his numbers from last season. It was there that he accounted for over 1,100 yards on the ground and was a pivotal point of attack. But with QB Cameron Austin graduated to play college baseball, Brown will become the focal point on offense.

EDISTO COUGARS

[player_tooltip player_id='797161' first='Zechariah' last='Jamison'] LB/H-Back, 2026

Jamison does a lot of things well. He can drop into coverage or stick his nose in the middle of the line of scrimmage to disrupt a play in the backfield. He reads the quarterback's eyes well and seems to be in the right position to make plays. On offense, he's a great blocker and uses his hands well. He also can be a pass-catching threat.

HAMPTON COUNTY HURRICANCES

[player_tooltip player_id='1165165' first='Jaylen' last='Singletary'] DB/RB, 2026

Singletary (pictured) might be a player that sees the sideline during the half and after the game. He's going to be a two-way starter and considering he garnered All-State honors as a sophomore at the cornerback position and then All-State as a junior running back, it might be a good place to start. He averaged over 10 yards per carry and might see his touches double this season. He was the Region V-AA Offensive Player of the Year last season as well. He's been a huge leader this offseason and is going to be a vocal guy for both sides of the ball in the fall.

LAKE MARION GATORS

Carl Capers LB/H-Back, 2026

Capers Is a three-sport standout and he's going to help the Gators on both offense and defense. He plays a physical brand of football and that's going to suit him well at linebacker and H-Back. He runs well sideline-to-sideline but never shies away from contact. Head Coach Jarvis Davis applauds his work ethic and the way Capers has stepped into a leadership role with the offseason program.

WHALE BRANCH WARRIORS

Jermon Bowers Ath, 2026

We didn't put down a position for Bowers because that would downplay the role he will have this season. He took snaps at quarterback and running back last season while doubling up as a defensive back. He's likely to return kicks as well. He threw for 758 yards and added another 630 yards on the ground. He had four breakups in the secondary.
