The Metroplex is mostly known for its star-studded signal callers and wide receivers on a national scale. However, there's an immense amount of running back talent making those guys' lives a lot easier. There is so much pure speed in the DFW area, and there is no shortage of that, along with power and production at the running back position. Let's check out some of these guys due for a massive breakout in 2025.

Harris is an electric, versatile back who is not spoken of enough on the national scale. The rising senior is a smaller-framed back with intense twitch, great burst through the line of scrimmage, and the top-end speed to finish runs into the end zone. Harris also displays loose hips that allow for great lateral change of direction, along with surprisingly good contact balance. Harris is a dynamic threat in the run, pass, and return game, which led to over 2,000 total yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024. I expect Harris to keep building his frame, thus improving the already impressive physicality of his running ability. This will lead to a monster 2025 season that will build upon his offer list, which already includes Baylor, SMU, and Oregon State.

Ingram already had a major breakout season for the State Champion Panthers in 2024. The shifty, high-motor back possesses great footwork and specifically a stellar stutter-step that creates running lanes into the secondary. Ingram has very little wasted movement and consistently breaks lower-body tackles. In an offense that was easy to be overshadowed in, Kiante took his opportunity to be a feature piece and flourished. Already receiving premier offers from Ole Miss, SMU, and Arizona, expect Ingram's recruitment to take off in 2025 as he looks to help lead North Crowley to back-to-back titles.

Sharing the backfield with one of the major blue-chip prospects in the country didn't matter for Baker. He still went and got his all year long, providing massive value for DeSoto in both the run and pass game. So much so that SaRod accounted for over 1,000 total yards and 13 touchdowns. Baker has loose hips and is as smooth-striding a runner as you can find. He also displays great ball skills for an RB and obviously great make-you-miss ability after the catch. Baker finds creases in the defense through the air and toting the rock. He has the potential to be one of the top offensive weapons in the country in 2025 and build upon his offers, which currently include Auburn, TCU, and SMU.

Another rising junior with a load of talent and potential, Lassiter is a unique back with a big frame, great vision, and polished body balance control. Chance was a workhorse for Boswell and a nightmare for opposing defenses, accounting for over 1,500 yards and 21 total touchdowns. And while the majority of Lassiter's domination was in the run game, he also possesses solid hands, with his frame allowing him to win on contested catches. With the blocking ability, vision, and hop-cut of a savvy vet, expect Lassiter to only become faster and more dynamic this season. He has earned offers from Texas Tech and Idaho.

Ranked in Texas as the number one running back in the state for the 2028 class, Tabor is already an absolute unit of a power back. The "Bear" is a high-waisted killer that also frighteningly has 4.6 speed as well. In his first season of high school football, Tabor exhibited great burst through the line of scrimmage, game-changing long speed, and pure athleticism at the RB position. These early traits led to a 785-yard and 8-touchdown season for the Melissa freshman. Tabor is still coming into his own in maneuvering running lanes and using his elite traits to make defenders miss. With further development, expect him to be one of the premier backs out of all classifications in 2025. He has already received offers from Texas A&M, Syracuse, and Kansas State.
