On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 I was personally invited back for the third consecutive year by Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Football Coach Anthony Van Curen to cover his Football Mega Camp. With many other universities now following suit with mega camps of their own, Van Curen's is the O.G. in the area and, quite frankly, everyone is just biting off his style. However, at this point the term “mega” is probably an understatement to describe his event.

In what I would consider more of a celebration of the game, between the 560+ prospects registered, 100+ college coaches watching, clinicians, parents, and high school staffs there were literally around 1000 people coming out to compete, make connections, and enjoy an evening sample taste of football. As has become the norm for Van Curen's baby, the event was organized, structured, ran well, and was highly competitive.

In addition to eyeing prospects up, measuring their combine performances (40-yard dash, Pro Agility, Broad Jump), I was fortunate enough to receive unimpeded access to the grounds to evaluate and scout the talent on hand. In this article, I share my notes for the position group mentioned in its title.

Part of the resurgence at Franklin High School will be in part to retaining their in-district athletes. [player_tooltip player_id='1634182' first='Ethan' last='Coley'] is one I got a chance to see compete live. Coley has adequate breaks when defending routes and changing direction. It would be to his benefit to pick his feet up more cleanly to keep pace and avoid getting tripped up. Timing is an area for Coley to continue to improve. I caught instances of him catching and holding an oncoming receiver a bit, likely having to do so because of his aforementioned footwork. Lastly, to my distant, naked eye, I thought Coley nearly tackled a receiver before the ball arrived... Switching gears, Isiah Terry was a 2023 graduate from Newark Collegiate High School. One of the more elder players in attendance due to transfer portal opportunities, Terry showed great concentration when defending the past and high pointed the ball extremely well.

Making a long trip up from Gloucester High School, [player_tooltip player_id='1687143' first='William' last='Rodgers'] had a day to remember. Rodgers had a good forward lean that gradually rose as he ran the 40-yard dash. In terms of defending the pass, he has above-average reactions and contested every ball thrown his way. Staying in phase with his matchup was something he did well too, as Rodgers was unaffected by head fakes and stayed in ready-to-compete trail position throughout... There was one play that was great and would have been awesome had the prospect converted. [player_tooltip player_id='1696978' first='Joshua' last='Allen'] from Woodbridge made an unreal break on a return route. As the receiver came back to the ball, Allen showed strong acceleration to undercut the throw. He juggled it some before ultimately being unable to make the pick.

Another prospect who made one helluva trek was Williamstown's [player_tooltip player_id='1696974' first='Kysheem' last='Prunty']. Prunty, who graduates in 2027, has an opportunity for his game to continue to grow. The rising junior would benefit from working on his balance and footwork... It seems like at every turn this camp season I have come across [player_tooltip player_id='835479' first='Nyko' last='Monroe']. Monroe showcased his raw athleticism to his biggest audience yet. With his twitchy closing and recovery speed, the 2028 prospect eliminated the out route from quarterback-receiver tandems all evening long. During one rep I caught, Monroe was beat at the line by an absolutely wicked release; however, said speed allowed him to stay in phase trailing without issue. Comfortable trailing, this allowed the St. Peter's Prep prospect to make a play on an underthrown ball. Lastly, and consistent with what I have seen all camp season from him, Monroe tends to be a bit more handsy than necessary.
