He played as both an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman last year. Starting as a freshman on the offensive line, he did a good job of firing off the ball and blocking defensive linemen. He is strong enough to bully defensive linemen off the ball. He also shows good feet, moving them to stay in front of defenders. Then, as a defensive tackle, Witmer wrecked offensive players trying to block him. His ability to make difficult catches is impressive. He also shows good speed as he can run by defenders trying to guard him. Thomas has the skills to be a defensive back next year as well. He has excellent size (6'1") and body control for a receiver. On one touchdown pass, he caught a pass along the sideline and made a great catch with the ball by controlling it between defenders and the sideline.
