<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672495' first='Reenson' last='Akwiembi'], Carlsbad</strong>: We know one thing about Akwiembi – he's a very strong dude. He won the Class 5A 181-pound title at the state power lifting championships in April with a 1,240 weight total, impressive for a player his size. He had 31 tackles and 1 INT in 2024. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672553' first='Orlando' last='Cascante'], Eldorado</strong>: After a solid season in 2024, Cascante is one of three returning starters on Eldorado's defense. He had 80 tackles and 3.0 TFL from his safety spot last season when he emerged as one of the best safeties in Albuquerque. He ‘ll be one of the leaders of what should be a young Eagles defense in 2025.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672364' first='Peyton' last='Davis'], Hobbs</strong>: Is Davis the next great Hobbs linebacker? He's the younger brother of former Eagles LB and NMMI signee [player_tooltip player_id='1119266' first='Tristan' last='Davis']. According to his coach, Peyton has the potential to be even better than his older brother. He 2024 season was cut short by an injury but still had 22 tackles in just 3 games. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672405' first='Hasaiah' last='Fuller'], West Mesa</strong>: He'll be the leader of West Mesa's secondary in 2025. Good size at 6-fooot-1, 170 pounds. He's rangy and athletic and loves to hit. He'll likely play safety but his excellent coverage skills could be useful at cornerback as well.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672443' first='Ryan' last='Gunn'], Cibola</strong>: Cibola's defense was solid at times last season with Gunn being a major contributor with 52 tackles, 6.0 TFL, 3 QB hurries and 2 forced fumbles. Cibola has a new outlook under recently hired head coach David Howes, and the Cougars hope to be significantly improved in 2025. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672532' first='Lorenzo' last='Mendietta'], Centennial</strong>: The 6-foot-3 Mendietta is going into his third season as an OL starter for the Hawks. He has next level aspirations and recently visited Western New Mexico for Junior Day. He brings plenty of experience to the field and is definitely one of the top O-Linemen in southern New Mexico.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672757' first='James' last='Rogers'], Farmington</strong>: Possessing good size at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Rogers emerged last season as one of the top linebackers in the Four Corners. Finished with 75 tackles and 4.0 TFL as a junior, second on the Scorpions. Farmington returns three of its top five tacklers in 2025. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672753' first='Andres' last='Sanchez'], Robertson</strong>: With a rich history, Robertson is always one of the top teams in Class 3A and 2025 should be no different with Sanchez and other top performers returning to the Cardinals. Sanchez finished third in tackles with 77 in 2024 and will be Robertson's top returning tackler this season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672745' first='Juan' last='Urquizo'], Chaparral</strong>: Urquizo was one of the sparkplugs to Chaparral's revival season in 2024 with 82 tackles, 3.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks. The Lobos return six of their top 10 tacklers in 2025, so Chaparral's run could continue. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672571' first='Derrick' last='Warren'], Artesia</strong>: The possible new face of Artesia's offense. Warren was the Bulldogs' backup QB in 2024 and attempted 54 passes with 2 TD passes in 2024. Like his predecessor, Warren will get one year to lead Artesia's offense. </p>
