Top Bay Area quarterbacks shine at regional Elite 11

<p><em><strong>Looking at some of the Bay Area passers that competed at last weekend's Elite 11 camp in Richmond, here are some top names that stood out on the day and who are gearing up for big Senior seasons for their respective programs. </strong></em></p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    <p class="text-gray-700">Casanovas is coming off back to back state titles, most recently at the 4-AA level and is undefeated in post season play as a starter. Being the signal caller for the Mustangs that ended the '24 season as the top small school team in California (Cal-Hi Sports), he is a true dual-threat passer that navigates the pocket well while keeping his eyes downfield and can fit the ball into tight windows with throw anticipation and velocity over the top. He is a very efficient passer that takes what is given underneath, but also can stretch the field on in-breaking and out-breaking throws. On the ground, he was a 967 yard rusher and accounted for 47 total touchdowns and has a strong initial burst, chunks yardage with long strides and shows contact balance and wiggle in tight windows with good patience and vision through the first level. Over the weekend, he had one of the top showings in a very impressive quarterback group, and is poised for another huge year in 2025 both through the air and on the ground. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/CasanovasGabe/status/1919211587111354873 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Schweitzer is one of the more under the radar passers across the Bay Area and is coming off a impressive Junior season for one of the top teams in the central coast section. He has a quick release and good throwing mechanics while able to throw with accuracy over the middle is not afraid to force the ball into tight windows downfield. He scans the field quickly and has good escape ability in the pocket and feels pressure effectively while able to throw across his body on the run without losing zip on the ball. He was another one of the top passers over the weekend in Richmond and is a no-brainer next level kid that has been flying under the radar. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Callum_Schweitz/status/1919862342583771421 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Freehill is a terrific two-sport athlete for Menlo, and one of the top small school players northern California has to offer. He is a very efficient passer that can push the ball downfield with ease and is a high IQ kid that moves through his progressions quickly and does a nice job moving defenders with his eyes before working back. He shows proper velocity on the deep ball, throwing his receivers open while also able to zip it into tight windows and shows some escape ability under duress while keeping his eyes downfield and making good decisions under pressure. Although a true pocket passer, he moves well outside the pocket while able to escape pressure and can tuck it and run when buying time. He shows good downfield accuracy and leads his receivers open with throw anticipation and can fit it into tight windows over the middle and hit spots outside the hashes with zip on the ball.
