On Saturday, May 10th, 2025 I was welcomed back for the third year in a row to cover Coach Nick Pennisi's PSR Big Camp Series hosted at Monroe High School in Monroe, New Jersey. As I have come to expect, this event was packed with participation, loaded with talent, and ran extremely well.

Different than other events, Pennisi opted to have three different check-in times, based on position groupings. This afforded me the opportunity to get a closer look at many of the prospects in attendance. Below are just some of my notes on the position group mentioned in this article's title.

Leading off my event coverage was [player_tooltip player_id='1429173' first='Matt' last='Bodnar']. The Notre Dame Green Pond (PA) quarterback looked good at moments as he was able to deliver accurate strikes to just about anything intermediate. One note I had was to encourage Bodnar to get a tad bit more air on his corner routes. Doing so will allow him to drop it over the receiver's shoulder for an uncontested catch... [player_tooltip player_id='1673247' first='Kyle' last='Dow'], a 2027 graduate from Donovan Catholic, is set for a quarterback competition with a big time prospect having having transferred in. That said, Dow is out camping to get himself ready. He looked mostly solid in his performance, particularly with his mechanics. I do, however, want to see him step into and lead his target a bit more on the out route. Doing so will mitigate defensive backs' opportunities to make plays on those throws.

Sticking with the theme of out routes, Paul VI's 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1087135' first='Zach' last='Merhar'] really threw a nice one. Merhar, who actually introduced himself to me at one point, threw that thing on a rope in a space space only his receiver could get it. At 6'3" 185 and still yet a freshman, Merhar might be a prospect to keep tabs on... We circle back to Notre Dame High School - albeit this one in Lawrenceville - to talk about [player_tooltip player_id='1278652' first='Matt' last='Rausch']. Rausch was really apt at throwing nice fade balls. Despite having to play through the elements, Rausch was able to extend his throws up the field and lead his receivers to pay dirt, without having the pill drift back toward the middle of the field. I do, however, wish to see Rausch's motion cleaned up a bit.

I swear to you, Delbarton's [player_tooltip player_id='972082' first='Gavin' last='Gilardi'] and I might have the same travel schedule I have gotten eyes on him for the third event in a row spanning two weekends. Gilardi threw the deep post exceptionally well. A subtle thing I caught this time was that the freshman is patient on his throws, often subtly opening his body slightly to position himself for a better throwing angle/window. One play I saw Gilardi absolutely challenge himself. During the event's second session he was paired up with a running back from Millville, who the defending linebacker was stuck to like white-on-rice. Gilardi bulleted the ball into a tight window that, to the naked eye, the linebacker got a finger tip on. The running back secured the grab as he wore the linebacker like a cape and nestled the ball through both contact and the ground. This play was probably the single-best play I caught all camp - by all three parties involved.
