, a quarterback poised to step into a major opportunity. At 6’2”, 181 pounds, Merhar is expected to take over as Rancocas Valley’s starter and lead a program that continues to trend upward.
Although he hasn’t logged varsity snaps yet, his camp performances have generated strong buzz. Coaches and evaluators consistently highlight his calmness under pressure, strong arm, and advanced ball placement. In particular, Merhar shows impressive touch on deep throws and the ability to layer passes into tight windows.
That combination of poise and arm talent gives him a high ceiling. He doesn’t rush decisions, delivers the football with confidence, and shows traits that translate well to game speed.
As a result, expectations are high heading into his first year as a varsity starter. With Rancocas Valley moving in the right direction and Merhar stepping into the role, this season presents a clear chance for him to make a name for himself and firmly establish his upward trajectory.

Zach impressed me once again this past weekend, continuing to build on the strong reputation he’s earned over the years. Having watched him at multiple PRZ Combines, I’ve seen firsthand how much poise and skill he brings to the field—and this performance only solidified my belief that he’s one of the top 2028 quarterbacks in New Jersey. He moved the ball with ease, showing calmness under pressure, a strong arm, and impressive precision on deep throws. One of the highlights came Saturday, when he delivered a tight spiral to the back of the end zone, perfectly placed over defenders for a touchdown. He followed that up with a beautifully timed wheel route strike to

Another quarterback that I got to see at the NYNJ Next Combine earlier in the offseason,
Zach Merhar

is a stand out talent ready to line up for Paul VI. Zach is a very technical thrower, showing in May at the Combine that he can move precisely in the pocket, go through his progressions, and deliver accurate throws on time. Most impressive, Zach is prepared for high school football with his stature (6’1″) and frame, making it possible for him to potentially get some reps in early in his career. If there is one QB that has natural instinct for the position and can elevate his team every time he steps on the field, it is

A close second for MVP of the camp, Zachary Merhar may be the most high school ready QB of the entire event. Standing at 6’1″ and 171lb, Zach already has the size necessary to thrive at the next level. Standing tall in the pocket, Zach will have no problem seeing over his offense line, especially with how well he moves around in the pocket. I loved seeing Zach being on his toes as he surveyed the field. His feet never stopped moving, giving him the ability to slide around the pocket and make split second decisions if needed.
Lastly, I think what stood out the most was Zach’s pinpoint accuracy. On one of the post corners Zach hit, he showed excellent ball placement as he kept it out of reach of the defensive back. Zach will be joining a rising talent in Paul VI, where he has the potential to continue leading the program towards success. There is much to look forward to in his game.

Merhar, the 6’0 Quarterback for the RV Hurricanes, knows how to get the ball into the hands of the athletes around him. He has great footwork in the pocket and can break down defenses and make plays. He clearly takes time and works on every fundamental to be able to lead his lead to a win. The big righty operates out of the shotgun formation and really looks calm sitting back there. It’s also a huge plus having Hakim Theresa Jr. as a running back/athlete out of the backfield, in order to keep the opposing defenses honest. There are a number of reasons to like this RV Hurricanes team as they advance to their league championship this week, but QB1 Merhar is one of the bigger reasons.
