PRZ AZ Combine: Second Team Defense All-Camp

This past weekend, we had the remarkable opportunity to observe some of the youngest, most talented stars at the Prep Redzone Arizona Combine at Arizona Christian University. It was filled with players from all different grades, some not even freshmen yet, who truly shined with impressive measurements, times, and on-field production. We would like to showcase the Prep Redzone Second Team All-Camp Defense who made a remarkable impression at the event.

2027 Defensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1399755' first='Nathan' last='Jones'] proved he has more athletic traits than just his rushing ability. Some of his notable times included a 4.8 40-yard dash, 4.72 shuttle, an 8.6 broad jump, and a 7.72 3-cone drill. He's a lengthy athlete with long arms and a flexible frame that allows him to bend and corner to the quarterback in his rushes. However, he did take one-on-one reps against receivers at the camp, some at even the cornerback position. He covered tons of ground on the field and was able to display good closing speed on the ball for an incompletion. Jones is a clear competitor and multi-faceted athlete who will be a thrilling watch for the next season.

https://twitter.com/HoganMiller3/status/1922350035833958754

2028 Defensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1614662' first='Luke' last='White'] has tons of potential heading into this next season. At the combine, he posted a 5.06 40-yard dash, a 4.69 shuttle, and a 7.7 broad jump. A competitor when doing both offensive and defensive drills, but he made a great impression on defense. He showed promising hand usage when rushing off the edge, having solid length to keep offensive linemen's reach at bay. He shows solid flexibility turning the corner and seeking the ball carrier. A young athlete still, White has the makings to be a star at Scottsdale Christian Academy this upcoming year.

2027 Defensive Lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1669241' first='John' last='Kraus'] showed some positive athletic traits at the combine. He ran a 5.22 40-yard dash, a 8.6 foot broad jump, and a 4.78 shuttle. He has solid change of direction and movement skills at the position. His footwork and natural hip turn allow him to stay balanced while redirecting in space. He has the tools to come off the edge or drop into coverage as an outside linebacker. Kraus, heading into his junior season, will be an interesting watch to see unfold.

https://youtube.com/shorts/CiI8uJ5NZk0?feature=share

2026 Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='428590' first='Rowan' last='Oberg'] was another standout linebacker among the pack at this event. Some of his notable times were his 5.1 40-yard dash, a 4.66 shuttle, a 7.72 3-cone drill, and a 8.7 foot broad jump. Capable of displaying sound movement ability, especially when it came to the linebacker drills, Oberg relished the natural art of the position. He moved with purpose and control, showing a good grasp of spacing and leverage during coverage reps. He showed good reactive instincts and the ability to read the eyes of the quarterback. Oberg will be a player to keep your eyes out for on a loaded Arizona College Prep team.

https://youtube.com/shorts/am2faDt_nOI?feature=share

2026 Athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1665648' first='Macen' last='Thompson'] was a guy who brought his A-game on both sides of the ball. The two-way star notched a 4.66 40-yard dash, a 4.4 shuttle, an 8.8 board jump, and a 7.65 3-cone drill. His lateral quickness is the first thing that jumps out, as he is shifty in his hips and can plant his feet at a moment's notice with precision. He shows the ability to stick with his assignment through controlled movement and polished mechanics, reacting quickly to his opponent's routes. Thompson is ready to take his game to another level his senior season, ready to put up big numbers especially on the defensive side.

https://twitter.com/MacenThompson/status/1922117765269270788
