The 2025 football season will be here before we know it.

Over the course of the next two months, teams will participate in workouts galore leading up to the start of preseason camp. And while the summer is sure to include mass transfers - thanks to the SCHSL's new policy - we have enough information to start making some educated assumptions about each team's likely MVP.

In Region VI-A, Lake View enters in pole position, but there probably isn't as much of a divide between the top of the region and the third or fourth spot as years past. Much of that is talent based.

As we inch closer to the 2025 campaign, these seven names have earned the right to carry the banner for their respective teams.

CARVERS BAY BEARS

[player_tooltip player_id='402516' first='Zyon' last='Guiles'] OL, 2026 (pictured)

It's been more than two months since Guiles verbally committed to South Carolina, and it's been a year since we named Guiles as the Bears' likely MVP for last football season. What we saw from him in 2024 was a massive confidence boost and a serious meanstreak. If you're standing in front of him, he's going to try to knock you on your back. And while every offensive lineman wants to do that, Guiles is more successful than most in accomplishing it.

GREEN SEA FLOYDS TROJANS

Dy'lon White OL/DL, 2026

The 6-foot-2, 335-pound two-way starter is a big body. But that's not all he is. White is an active interior lineman who had 75 total tackles, five tackles for loss and five sacks last fall for the Trojans. He also started at right tackle, where he accumulated 35 pancakes. And in short-yardage situations, he's an occassional fullback where he can either be a massive extra blocker or even take handoffs, as he showed on his reel.

HANNAH-PAMPLICO RED RAIDERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1732664' first='Chris' last='Eldridge'] LB/RB, 2026

The Red Raiders are entering a new era, one with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='922678' first='Wade' last='Poston'] and [player_tooltip player_id='464882' first='Jamarcus' last='Williams'] on offense. Enter Eldridge, the team's top returning producer on that side of the ball. He finished his junior season with 357 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. But that's only one part of his job. He's also a starting outside linebacker, where he had 60 tackles, three tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and an interception. He's also going to have his hand all over the special teams.

HEMINGWAY TIGERS

Alexander Timmons LB, 2026

Any improvement for the Tigers will be a massive step in the right direction after the team failed to win a game for the fourth time in six years. And defense has to be priority No. 1. Hemingway is about to be on its third coach in as many season, and Timmons is among the small number of returning players with significant experience. He'll be asked to help prevent another string of lopsided losses. If Hemingway can be respectable in a game or two early, Timmons and that defense could end another long slide.

JOHNSONVILLE GOLDEN FLASHES

Jaiden McFadden RB, 2026

As if there was any real question about it, Johnsonville is going to run the ball, and then run it some more. And while speedster [player_tooltip player_id='1664624' first='Ja'Mere' last='Ross'] is going to get his share of carries, McFadden has the look of an every-down grinder necessary for the Flashes to get back to their regular-and postseason success. McFadden is 5-foot-9 and every bit of 200 pounds and will be asked to put it to good use after rushing for 400 yards and eight touchdowns last fall.

LAKE VIEW WILD GATORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1732669' first='Seth' last='Deese'] LB, 2026

With Ashton Locklear, Dawson Hunt and Zy Inmon alo moving on, we expect Deese to become more of a household name for opponents trying to game plan against the defending Region VI-A champs. Deese is a rangy middle linebacker who can play sideline-to-sideline, an all-important factor for any team to succeed in this region. Every team is heavy on the run, and Deese will be going into his third year as a starter for the Gators.

LATTA VIKINGS

[player_tooltip player_id='1639778' first='Xy'Mari' last='Bethea'] ATH, 2026

Latta has done well the last few years getting the most out of its top players on offense and defense, and Bethea is no different. After putting up 71 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as a junior, the hybrid linebacker/defensive back is not only the Vikings' most efficient defender, he's also exhibited more than enough athleticism to take on a consistent role on offense, too. Expect him to see handoffs, sweeps and direct snaps.
