FORT MILL | Spring practice is well underway, and we had a chance to see Northwestern, Indian Land, Rock Hill and South Pointe in action as preparations for the 2025 season continue.

The York County Showcase provided an opportunity for multiple colleges and universities to see them all under one roof – Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, ECU, Gardner-Webb and Concord University were all on hand.

Let's jump into some of what we saw from the session.

We'll start with the South Pointe Stallions. The first thing that we noticed during the team period was that [player_tooltip player_id='1036779' first='Kaiden' last='Watkins'] is now with the Stallions, making the move across town from Rock Hill. His good hands and speed were on display and we expect he will transition well with the talent that is already on hand. He made one catch from [player_tooltip player_id='473002' first='Cameron' last='McMillon'] where the ball was placed perfectly in the bread basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1594865' first='Brysen' last='Ginn'] made his presence felt with the first two plays as he showed quick play recognition on a screen and he diagnosed plays quickly. Ta'Carean Douglas looks to be the leader in the running back room. He showed good explosiveness and is not afraid to put his head down and try to get extra yards. Ty'Quan Brice (pictured middle) was also another back that showed good explosiveness. Jermale Anderson made a good catch near the sideline as the defense brought the blitz.

Indian Land running back [player_tooltip player_id='1592288' first='Jamol' last='Horton'] did a good job of running inside. He is physical at the point of attack and looks to be primed for a huge 2025 season.

A new era is underway for the Rock Hill Bearcats under new coach Leon Boulware, as he comes over from Lugoff-Elgin. He'll have a lot of tools to work with, including junior wide receiver Kameron Wilson, who Boulware was high on. He can fly and has excellent size for the position. Drayton McManus made a good catch in the flat and did an excellent job of getting up field after the grab from quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1592521' first='Kason' last='Canupp'].

Jonah Torres looks the ball in his hands and runs solid routes. He made an excellent acrobatic catch in between two defenders.

Moving on to the defending state champion, Northwestern Trojans, wide receiver Evan Harrison was a standout during the session and made some excellent catches during the one-on-ones against defensive backs. He did a nice job of breaking away from the defender on a throw from Corinthian Bowser. He knows what to do with the ball in his hands and will cause issues in 2025 for opponents.

Cameron Wright and Xavier Sims caught our eye on quick throws. Justice Thompson did a great job of plucking the ball out of the air after a throw from Colin Davis. Kamerin McFaddeen blew up the wide receiver on a shallow throw while Styles Thompson went up in the air to prevent a completion, and almost made an interception.
