committed to Illinois on Wednesday afternoon.
Currently sits at #2 overall in the Prep Redzone Rankings, but has made a strong case to move up to the top overall spot. What makes Rankin such a unique prospect is he would be impactful on either side of the ball he chose. Will most likely be a wide receiver at the next level where he really shined lining up all over the field as a junior for the Mustangs. Completes elite acrobatic catches, makes people miss in the open field, and has elite juice with the ball in his hands. If he was purely a safety, he would be ranked at the exact same spot as he is a ball hawk on that side getting picks and hitting with force.
Rankin is also a standout on the hardwood. As a shooting guard Rankin would be under consideration for a D1 scholarship with his electric three level scoring ability. One of the top bucket getters in the Chicagoland area. Illinois basketball coaches have told him he has a roster spot to be on the hoops team when he is not suiting up for the football squad.
Rankin chose Illinois over USC, North Carolina, Duke, and Nebraska. He joins in-state prospects
