High schools around Louisiana wrapped up their weeks of spring football practice this month with scrimmages that provided a pre-summer glimpse of their early progress toward the upcoming season.

A pair of high-profile New Orleans area schools squared off for their May tune-up as Jesuit made the quick trip to the River Parishes to square off with Hahnville.

Prep Redzone Louisiana was able to catch a half-dozen of those matchups during the span of eight days, including the Blue Jays' and Tigers' showdown.

Here's a look at some of the top eye-catchers from the matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id='723628' first='Zyron' last='Forstall'] — 6-4, 240 EDGE/DL — Jesuit (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1345265' first='Will' last='Berry'] — 6-4, 260 DL/EDGE — Jesuit (2026)

Forstall has quickly become the recruiting-headliner for the Blue Jays. But he's far from alone on a stout defense overall, and the balance of two veteran and versatile defensive ends with Division-I size and talent makes life exponentially more challenging for opposing offensive lines. Both Forstall and Berry attacked from a range of alignments across the front, with Forstall also standing up and moving around pre-snap like a linebacker. Both players were tenacious working through blocks with good combinations of strength and quickness. And the get-off, agility and speed at his size make Forstall easy to spot as the budding five-star prospect — even wearing a different jersey number in the scrimmage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1602095' first='Roman' last='Larre'] — 6-2, 180 WR — Jesuit (2026)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1356168' first='Ja'ir' last='Burks'] — 5-10, 155 WR — Jesuit (2027)

Another dynamic 2026-and-2027 duo on the other side of the ball looks poised for a big season for a big season of creating headaches for opponents. Just a few days off their respective baseball and track postseasons runs, both Larre and Burks flashed their vertical speed with explosive scoring plays downfield. The passing game was working with not only rising senior Taylor Norton at the helm of the offense, but a few different quarterbacks, including rising sophomore Sully Sullivan. And Larre was a busy target for the group as he looks determined to build off a 1,000-yard junior campaign, while his speedy rising junior running-mate continues to develop into a more consistent threat as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1602093' first='Gavin' last='Palmisano'] — 6-1, 190 RB — Jesuit (2026)

The rising senior helped lead the ground game that provided solid balance to Norton, Larre, Burks and company. Palmisano is a big, strongly built back who showed good patience working his way through traffic and the power to fight through contact for extra yards. But he was also comfortable running routes as a target out of the backfield, smoothly catching and tucking away passes and turning upfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801248' first='Landen' last='Teague'] — 6-0, 185 QB — Hahnville (2027)

The multisport standout, fresh off baseball season, calmly handled the Blue Jays' pressure and a night on which the Tigers' offense struggled to find their rhythm for much of the action as dropped passes appeared to become contagious and snowball a bit. Teague moved well to evade the rush, kept positive and focused and kept giving his receivers opportunities down the field. As he and his weapons continue to get more work together during the offseason and return a couple key pieces to the fold from injury and illness, the confidence remains high for Teague and Hahnville to move the ball effectively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801225' first='Kirk' last='Bourgeois'] — 6-4, 230 OL — Hahnville (2027)

and Ja'ron Myles — OL — Hahnville (2027)

Particularly considering the challenge present by Forstall, Berry and company, the Tigers' rising junior tackle duo had a solid evening overall. Bourgeois, on the left side, and Myles, on the right, both possess tall, long frames and were quick enough on their feet and balanced enough to, once they settled in, more consistently stay in front of the Blue Jays' rushers and make them battle — buying enough time for plays to develop and Teague to find good options.
