Keep An Eye On Miami True North Academy

After losing to Miami Edison in the second round of the 1A state playoffs last year and finishing 8-4, changes started to take place for Miami True North Classical Academy, heading into their seventh season.   After just one season, head coach Travis Makauskas, who took over for Greg Laffere, departed. He was replaced by Laffere, who started the program back in 2019 and brought the Titans to a competitive level and a spot in the state playoffs.   The former University of Miami standout lineman who remained at the school took back over, hired some impressive and well known assistants and this program started to take off.   Since January, several impressive transfers came in and when they finished spring with a dominating win against Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian, this team started to turn heads.   With national power Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna providing a major obstacle in the region, the Titans made sure that they did something positive in the off-season. And while nobody is predicting a major upset and a run at a state title, Laferre and his staff didn't sit still in the off-season.   With several players attending some high-profile off-season events, the school's name started to surface everywhere, and those prospects started to get plenty of recognition.   Remember, while they lost to Edison in the state playoffs, this program did beat five state playoff teams.   With several key players coming back, there is a feeling that the talent can accomplish some major things.
