We're getting deeper into the 2026 pool this week as we continue adding evaluations to student-athletes' profile pages here at Prep Redzone Iowa. Posting as many reports as we can for this class and beyond is the goal.

When there's a 2,000-yard rusher headed to Iowa State on the roster, the other running backs fill in around the star. Fierce did that and then some as a junior in 2024. He rushed for 334 yards (7.8 YPC) and three touchdowns. On defense, he collected 22.0 tackles (18 solo). Fierce also returned one punt and one kick, each a 27-yard gain. His athleticism and broad set of skills shine through during his 11th-grade highlight video. With a bigger role in the offensive backfield expected, Fierce's statistics should rise. He's a smooth, patient runner that can get to the edge or bust it up inside. As a safety, Fierce covers well and will put a hit on the ball carrier.

Playing in the trenches in the eight-player game requires agility and athleticism. Without it, you'll be grabbing at air. Cooley doesn't experience this issue as we can see when watching his junior highlight video. Not the prototypical size of an offensive lineman, Cooley overwhelms opponents with his burst, strong hands and physicality. His frame can easily add mass and strength in a college program while keeping his quickness. That also would aid him on defense, where he attacks the opponent while lining up in different spots in the formation. Cooley runs well enough to play linebacker in the 11-player game.

Roos produced as a junior in 2024, racking up 28.5 tackles (23 solo, 2.0 TFL). His junior highlight video reveals a physical linebacker with a nose for the football and sound tacking technique. Roos combines quickness and strength, which are especially helpful in avoiding or getting off of blocks. His pre-snap reads usually have him in position to make plays. Roos doesn't go rogue. He carries out his assignments within the framework of the defense.

Johnson's 38 receptions last season were more than three times more than the next Scarlet. They added up to 331 yards with three touchdowns. Johnson contributed 24.0 tackles (12 solo) and an interception. He averaged 19.8 yards on six kick returns. It illustrates the numerous ways he could help a college program. We see that when popping on Johnson's junior highlight video. It open with him running by a helpless defensive back for a long TD catch. The second clip has Johnson picking off a pass as a safety, where he brings an attractive combination of coverage skills and physicality.

Urbandale's offensive line was young and talented last season. That could be bigger things are ahead with key pieces of the unit returning in 2025. That group includes Tran, who authored a solid junior season last fall. We see as much when viewing his 11th-grade highlight video. Tran operates with good pad level and often wins the low-man battle. He gets after it from a physical standpoint, finishing blocks and punishing opponents. While his run blocking is ahead of his pass-pro, Tran uses his hands well and has smooth footwork to make him a well-rounded blocker.

Producing was something Geers did really well last fall. The junior picked off a state-best eight passes, returning two of them for touchdowns. Of his 38.0 tackles, 31 were solo. Geers is a well-rounded defensive back as we can witness when watching his 11th-grade highlights on his Hudl page. He locks up in coverage, flipping his hips and changing direction smoothly. Geers runs well and tracks the ball efficiently while it's in flight. He's also not afraid to stick his nose in against the run and lay the wood.
