Emerging Prospects in the Spring Recruiting Window

Cummings has been a no-brainer power four caliber outside linebacker for the last two seasons and he's finally seeing his recruitment take off the spring, picking up offers from San Jose State and Utah last week. He is violent and dynamic on the edge and shows pass rush abilities with elite closing speed, natural bend around the edge and hand violence at the point of attack. He shows he can quickly get off blocks and set the edge with ease while also very rangy in coverage with man cover skills downfield and covers a ton of ground in space when tracking outside the tackles. Coming off very strong camp performances in recent weeks, he is a fast rising name and should be a 10+ offer guy by the time it's all said and done.     Butler is one of the more fast rising defensive line prospects in Southern California, and should be a double digit offer guy by this time next year and have multiple P4 schools in play for his talents. He is twitchy off the ball, a legit 6'3" and can move extremely well for his size with closing speed and redirection. He sets his hands quickly to reset the LOS and has a variety of power rush moves at his disposal from the inside and collapses the pocket quickly/ shows he can take on double teams and drive blocks without giving up ground. Butler has picked up recent offers from Colorado State and Sacramento State and should see a slew of others come his way this Spring.     Hicks is one of the rapid rising Bay Area prospects this Spring after a breakout Junior season for the top team in the WCAL last Fall. He is a twitchy playmaker with fluid hips in space, natural ball skills and high point abilities while extremely physical near the LOS. He is dynamic with the ball in his hands and shows separation abilities in the open field and is a very high IQ kid in coverage while able to come up and help in run support with ease. He has recently seen his recruitment take off and gathered offers from Idaho State, Sac State and NAU and should see other FCS+ programs come in in the coming months.     Johnston is one of the more underrated prospects in Southern California, and has the ideal size, movement abilities and athleticism for the center position in college. He creates immediate vertical push, is extremely explosive off the ball with a violent punch and finish abilities downfield. He shows he can combo to the second level and takes the proper angles to flowing linebackers and is even able to pull when needed. In pass protection, he has patient hands and stays within his frame and shows he can make the proper checks in pass protection and pick up stunts and twists with ease. He currently hold offers from Cal Poly, Nevada and Portland State and is another kid that should see other schools come in late.     Mcgeilberry is one of the fastest rising defensive back prospects across the region and has elite length, range and closing speed for the position. He is extremely athletic in the back end of the defense and has tremendous ball skills, natural instincts and is a sure tackler when breaking to ball carriers in the open field. A true field general, he does a great job baiting quarterbacks into bad throws over the middle and shows return abilities as well. In the last few weeks alone, he has picked up offers from Colorado State and San Diego State. The three star prospects should have plenty of other FBS offers come his way through the spring and his summer camp circuit.
