Anyone paying attention to the data from the four Palmetto State sites of this year's Carolinas Coaches Combines could make an argument that the best was saved for last.

In the afternoon session at Spartanburg, speed was everywhere.

The 149 players who donned Catapult's GPS vests collectively put on a show. We saw the fastest recorded miles per hour figure in any of the four sites (plus three in North Carolina). We also had 19 different players hit at least 22 miles per hour, a figure that equated to nearly 13 percent of the entire pool.

Before we highlight some of the all-around numbers from the data pack, let's first look at the five fastest players in attendance.

TOP 5 MPH

[player_tooltip player_id='1604062' first='Jacobi' last='Fuller'] ATH Byrnes - 23.31

[player_tooltip player_id='1664506' first='Jayden' last='Coney'] RB, Travelers Rest - 22.89

[player_tooltip player_id='1664480' first='JaQwon' last='Haygood'] WR, Wade Hampton - 22.69

[player_tooltip player_id='1271241' first='Chanin' last='Harris'] WR, Byrnes - 22.69

[player_tooltip player_id='1172345' first='Trenton' last='Lynch'] RB, Spartanburg - 22.62

BYRNES, BYRNES AND MORE BYRNES

Nos. 1 and 4 on the list above were by no means the flashes of speed we saw from Rebels who have plenty of high school eligibility remaining. In fact, four of the 19 players who hit 22 miles per hour are Byrnes players.

Freshman receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1581471' first='Isaiah' last='Robinson'] reached a peak speed of 22.23 miles per hour. Like most of the others on the day, his top mph came during his 40. On his top showing, he was laser verfied at 4.57 seconds.

Down the ladder a few rungs was another Byrnes youngster, 2027 cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1568398' first='Aidyn' last='Wiggins'] (22.04 mph).

The Rebels weren't done.

Rising sophomore receiver Abram Burroughs (21.95 mph) also joined the 21 club, while 2028 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1615038' first='Emerson' last='James'] (20.89), 2027 linebacker Wyquial Moss (20.86) and 2028 receiver Mason Stevens (20.73) weren't far behind.

GETTING OFF THE LINE

One of the primary data points the Cat 1 provides is how quickly players can get moving. Four players did it better than the rest.

Harris led the way with an acceleration score of 7.81 (on a scale of 1-10), with Powdersville 2027 receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1149055' first='Nasir' last='Waldrop'] (7.62), Wren 2027 receiver [player_tooltip player_id='663984' first='Carson' last='Bryant'] (7.62) and Pickens reciever [player_tooltip player_id='1708840' first='David' last='Bolden'] (7.58, pictured) rounding out the list of players who hit a 7.5 or better.

St. Jospeph's 2027 receiver Brodie Martin nearly joined them, finishing with a 7.49.

KEEPING AFTER IT

As we've mentioned in other combine coverage, another interesting and effective metric during a Cat 1 session is a player's sprint distance (any movement north of approximately 12.5 miles per hour) compared with his overall movement distance.

And, as we've mentioned before, exceeding 10 percent of the latter is strong.

Not surprisingly, the five players who led the way in sprint distance also hit that 10-percent threshold.
