All State Preps Camp Evals: The Maryland Edition Pt. 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Redzone's Ed O'Brien gives his thoughts on some of the prospects he evaluated at the All-State Preps camp in Maryland this past weekend. In this article, the evaluation of the quarterbacks is focused on their 1v1 throws. He hit receivers in stride on multiple out routes and had great touch on a deep corner, dropping it right over a linebacker. His best throw was a deep post that landed perfectly in stride. He's got clean mechanics and good follow-through. He held the ball too long on a couple of deeper throws, which gave defenders time to recover. He made some smart throws, but on a slant route into tight coverage, he forced the ball, which was picked. He bounced back with a clean whip route completion. He ran crisp routes, made tough catches, and showed strong hands out of the backfield. In drills, he was explosive with great balance, quick feet, and a low center of gravity. His burst and short-area quickness stood out. He ran a sharp out route and made a clean angle cut to beat the linebacker for another catch. His footwork was controlled and quick, and he confidently moved in drills. Johnson has a good burst and some shiftiness that makes him tough to cover. He created space on a corner route, but the pass was underthrown. He didn't get enough separation on a seam route, and the play was broken up. In drills, he showed good lateral quickness and active feet.
