As we move closer to the heat of summer, the 2025 high school football offseason is in full swing. With that in mind, we have begun a new round of rankings updates. The most recent class to be updated is the incoming junior class of 2027. After officially releasing these rankings updates, I will now be breaking them down by position. With the quarterbacks and running backs already being covered, here are our top wide receivers in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='466365' first='Ja'Hyde' last='Brown'] continued to establish himself as the top wide receiver in the state in his class with a strong sophomore season, catching 51 passes for 532 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games. Brown is a skilled route runner, using a quick release and breaks in his routes to create separation with ease. He is also super athletic, showing the ability to go up and catch passes at their highest point, regardless of what type of coverage is around him. Brown currently holds several Power 4 offers and I expect that list to continue to grow heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311247' first='Brenden' last='Brown'] is a player who has been high on our radar for a while now and continued to stand out as a sophomore, finishing the year with 14 catches for 151 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Brown is a very reliable deep threat, showing the ability to use his speed to create separation from opposing defensive backs. He is also impressive after the catch, showing the ability to use his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes into big gains. Brown currently holds multiple Power 4/Division I offers and I expect more to come his way over the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1330209' first='Aiden' last='Wilson'] is a player who climbed up our rankings following a strong sophomore season in which he caught a team-leading 35 passes for 608 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. The first thing that sticks out with Wilson is his explosive speed which he uses to blow by opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game and to pick up extra yards after the catch. He is also an impressive route runner, using quick breaks in his routes to create separation. Wilson also scored one rushing touchdown, returned one punt and a kickoff for touchdowns, and came away with two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) on defense as a sophomore. Aiden currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect him to be a player who a lot of college coaches have their eyes on heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200706' first='Tyler' last='Fryman'] is another receiver who climbed up in our rankings in the recent update. He had a solid sophomore year, catching 17 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns in six games. Fryman is a skilled route runner who has shown the ability to use smooth breaks in his routes to create separation. He also has very reliable hands, showing the ability to make catches away from his body, even while taking on contact. Fryman has also proven to be a reliable blocker, showing the willingness and ability to drive his man out of the picture to create an opening for the ball carrier. He also finished his sophomore year with one rushing touchdown, and made an impact on defense with 26 tackles and an interception. Fryman is currently committed to play baseball at Louisville but he also holds a football offer from Toledo and he has the talent to play receiver at the next level if he were to have a change of heart.

To wrap up our top five wide receivers in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='1200571' first='Tysin' last='Weaver']. Weaver had a very productive sophomore season, catching 79 passes for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games. Tysin is very impressive in the open field after the catch, showing the ability to use his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes/screens into big plays at any given moment. Weaver is also a reliable deep threat, using his speed to create separation from opposing defensive backs. He also scored two rushing touchdowns as a sophomore and made an impact on defense, finishing the year with a team-high two interceptions. Tysin doesn't currently hold any offers but he has received some college interest and I expect him to be a player to continue to watch closely over the next couple seasons.
