This weekend, our Prep Redzone Combine Series will be making a stop in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. While there is a ton of talent scheduled to attend this camp, I wanted to highlight some top players in each class to watch on Saturday. After already covering the class of 2026, here are some top players from the class of 2027 to watch at this weekend's Prep Redzone Combine Series in Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200572' first='DJ' last='Hightower'] is a player who has been on my radar for a while now and I'm excited to watch in person this weekend. Hightower lines up at outside linebacker where he is very reliable against the run. He does a great job of reading the play quickly then using his speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackler. DJ has also shown the ability to drop into coverage and make plays against the pass, and also made an impact on offense at tight end as a sophomore. Hightower will be a player for college coaches to keep an eye on heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1284261' first='AJ' last='Lee'] is a quarterback who is coming off a strong sophomore season, completing 160/254 passes for 1,883 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Lee has shown impressive accuracy, showing the ability to zip passes into tight windows with ease where only his intended receiver can catch it. He has also shown the ability to escape pressure while keeping his eyes down the field to make tough throws on the run. AJ will be a player to continue to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='378836' first='Gunner' last='Holbrook'] is a quarterback who jumped onto my radar with a very impressive sophomore season in which he completed 129/235 passes for 2,174 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Holbrook has a great feel for the defense as he is able to scan the secondary to find the open target with ease. He has also shown impressive ball placement, putting the ball in a spot where only his intended receiver can catch it. Gunner has received some college interest and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200573' first='Elijah' last='Luna'] is a player who has been on my radar for a while now and I'm excited to watch compete at our camp. Luna lines up at defensive tackle where he is dominant against the run. He plays with physical hands, showing the ability to stack and shed blocks with ease. Once he sheds the blocks, he has shown the speed to get to the ball carrier followed by very reliable open field tackling ability. Elijah should be a player to keep a close eye on heading into this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200575' first='Teagan' last='Haretuku'] jumped onto my radar with some very impressive sophomore year film. He has shown a ton of versatility with the ability to play both guard and tackle. Teagan is a dominant run blocker, showing the physicality to finish blocks quickly, resulting in frequent pancake block. He is also very reliable in pass protection, showing the footwork to mirror opposing pass rushers along with the strong base to not allow much penetration into the pocket. Haretuku is a player who should definitely start picking up some serious college interest soon.

My final 2027 prospect to watch at this weekend's camp is [player_tooltip player_id='1200723' first='Crayson' last='Lafferty']. Crayson was one of the most productive linebackers in the state as a sophomore, finishing the year with 189 tackles and 18 tackles for loss. He is very impressive against the run, showing the ability to diagnose the play quickly then get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle before they can get going. Lafferty has also shown the ability to rush the passer and drop into coverage to make plays against the pass. He also played a key role on offense as a running back as a sophomore. Crayson is a player who college coaches should have on their radar this upcoming season.
