Engel experienced ups and downs as a sophomore starter, but the Mustang left-hander grew and flashed his upside throughout the year. He threw for seven touchdowns and ran for another score in getting his feet wet. When we pop on his 10th-grade highlight video, Engels reveals a dynamic set of skills. The DCG offense utilizes a moving pocket with his athleticism and accuracy in throwing on the run. Engel evades the rush no matter where the pocket is located and shows a quick release. He gets through his progressions quickly and can push the ball downfield.

Kauffman was behind a senior on the quarterback depth chart last season, so he found other ways to help the Generals. He rushed for 483 yards and six touchdowns, caught three scoring passes, threw for a TD and took a kickoff to the house. Kauffman is a matchup problem at this level with his size and speed, as he displays on his sophomore highlight video. He lines up in different locations on offense and can do damage no matter where he takes the ball. Kauffman embraces the game's physicality and has a frame capable of adding mass without losing athleticism.

Heideman appears to just be scratching the surface of his potential when viewing the clips on his Hudl page. He shows discipline beyond his years in setting the edge and holding the line as an end on a three-player front. Heideman displays strength taking on blocks and good technique when separating from them. His future position will depend on development, physically and as a football player. Heideman's experience should allow him to increase his statistics from the 33.5 tackles (21 solo) he produced in 2024. He has plenty of room to go before reaching his ceiling.

Tucked away in Northwest Iowa, resides an intriguing quarterback prospect. As a sophomore last season, Verschoor led one of the state's most successful programs to the Class A quarterfinals, where it fell to eventual state runner-up West Hancock. He threw for 17 touchdowns and ran for five more. Verschoor also stood out on defense, where he intercepted a pair of passes and collected 11 solo tackles. He can get the ball downfield and looks accurate when doing so. Verschoor can beats defenses with his legs whether he's evading the rush or eating up real estate on designed runs.

Razor's sophomore highlight video is entertaining as he shows off his versatility, speed and fearlessness. He rushed for a touchdown, caught three passes for 99 yards, recorded 15 solo tackles, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and averaged 27.5 yards on a pair of punt returns. Razor does a nice job proving he's a sound all-around football player during his highlight video. There's room to fill out his frame and add height without the loss of much, if any, athleticism. Razor already plays with physicality. Added strength and mass will help him reach his considerable potential.

During a not-great 2024 for Ames, Swanson was a bright spot. He caught 33 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns on an offense with a Division I receiver and a well-stocked positional group overall. Swanson is a handful in the slot, as we see when watching his sophomore highlight video. He runs crisp routes, has a burst and the ability to haul in tough catches in traffic or while sitting down in the holes in the zone defense. Swanson also has a knack for securing sideline throws even if they're shorter with zip on them. Although he didn't return punts or kicks last season, according to Bound, his skill set fits with what's required for success in doing so.
