Although he does scramble, Nugent will do so to buy time and create space - not necessarily tucking it and running as his eyes are peeled downfield. As a lefty, we see that Nugent can effectively roll to his right and throw an accurate ball against his body. Although he is clearly not a true, drop back passer; however, he is a play maker who moves around a bit and finds ways to execute. I mentioned Tebow earlier because I profile Nugent as a power read-option type quarterback of similar ilk.

Between Wayne Valley, Wayne Hills, PTCI, and DePaul Catholic, there is an overabundance of serious talent and well coached prospects out in ths single town in Passaic County. Starting off is Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='1515098' first='Danny' last='Ferrauilo']. Ferrauilo has the requisite arm strength of about 50 yards vertically down field to play at the next level. Furthermore, his release seems to vary for reasons I could not determine. He also varies loft and velocity on his throws. A few things I thought that made Ferrauilo's film exceptional are the fact that he steps up and moves around in the pocket very well and is unafraid to make some gutsy throws, particularly when squeezing things over the middle. Additionally - something I rarely see on film so I was fired up to see - Ferrauilo showcases a wide breadth of completions on the route tree on his tape, allowing colleges to really get a sense of what he does well. Lastly, he does not get anxious in the pocket and, a beneficiary of a clean one, is comfortable and poised within in for prolonged periods of time.

Public school-wise, you would be hard-pressed to find quarterbacks that have more dynamic weapons to toy with than Glassboro's [player_tooltip player_id='1572893' first='Jack' last='O'Connell']. O'Connell has some really nice fundamentals to his throws, particularly when transferring his weight; with this, he showcases some torque in his lower half. This bottom-up structure allows him to beautifully loft the ball, as if he was plucking a string, into the bread basket of his receivers once they are behind their defender and in front of the end zone. One who wants to make the play, O'Connell barely stands tall at moments in the face of heavy, looming pressure. If you look closer, however, O'Connell really does a nice job of delivering an on-target ball in places where only his guys can make plays on them - especially on vertical passes. O'Connell has experience running RPOs as well.

Is there a better name for a quarterback that throws an exceptional, nuanced long ball than [player_tooltip player_id='1551237' first='Jake' last='Long']? The West Essex quarterback gets really good airtime on his deep bombs. Moreover, Long often manipulates the touch on his throws and can effectively lead receivers quite well, leading to serious YAC. I would say that Long plays the quarterback position with some moxie, as we see him move around and step up in the pocket nicely. I cannot believe I would say this, but some of Long's best throws are against his body, or at least unorthodox. Along with his moxie, Long looks like he has some guts - challenging cover 2 safetieds on fade balls.

[player_tooltip player_id='1476965' first='Justin' last='Scaramuzzo'], the quarterback at St. Joseph's Metuchen, really gets to cooking when he is given a rhythm and coming off of play action. This ability to move translates to Scaramuzzo appearing very evasive in the pocket, all the while keeping his eyes down field. When going deep, Scaramuzzo gets the ball about 50 yards down field and throws with good ball placement. You can also see Scaramuzzo's enthusiasm to play the game show on film, evidenced by his fire and excitement when plays are made. I thought some of his best throws were when he was allowed to step up in the pocket and is able to make accurate throws when on the run.

Class of 2026 Rankings Update Coverage

Ranking Evaluation Scouting Notes, Part I
Ranking Evaluation Scouting Notes, Part II
Linebacker Film Room, Part I
Quarterback Film Room, Part I

Film is one of the best tools to self-scout, evaluate, and improve. As is the case with any rankings update, we want to celebrate and highlight select prospects who had some really nice film and talk about their game. That said kill the lights, close the blinds, and turn the projector on and join me, as we prepare to enter the film room to discuss what I saw on film.
