Happy NFL Draft Week to all our susbscribers that celebrate, which I am sure that is most of you! After watching Draft Day last night, I wanted to uncover the NFL Draft targets that are Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota natives in this year's NFL Draft held in Titletown, Wisconsin. We give you a summary their draft stock and our take on their draft stock and my favorite part: Break down their senior year of high school tape to see what they brought to the table back then with their skillsets. Of course NFL Draft scouting is not always an open book, so we give you nine names to watch this weekend and afterwards for undrafted free agent signings early next week the Minnesota and Dakotas natives that you could see hit the stage.

Minnesota

Danny Striggow, DL, Minnesota/Orono (2020)

The 6'5 255 pound defensive linemen from Orono has had himself an intriguing pre-draft process getting a very last second invite to the Senor Bowl after an impressive performance at the Hula Bowl and after watching the Senior Bowl my educated guess is that NFL executives like what they saw, as one of four Gophers in attendance. Danny was our DL3 and ranked #7 overall in Minnesota in the 2020 class.

HS Flashback Tape:

Danny was a 6'4 220 pounder out of Orono that from the early tape of his senior season, was a wrecking ball with his elusive pass-rush moves which showed off the intriguing agile movement that paved ahead a great career at Minnesota. On every rep I watched, he showed off a man amongst boys mentality that showed off athleticsm off the snap that was a force to be wreckened with.

Jalen Travis, OT, Iowa State/Minneapolis DeLaSalle (2020)

The 6'9 339 pound offensive tackle for the Cyclones is projected 5-6 rounder in this weekends NFL Draft. OL1 in our 2020 Minnesota rankings and #10 overall.

HS Flashback Tape:

The then 6'8 295 pounder showed off a rangey and long first step. When Jalen got his hands on his defender quickly, you can assure his dominant punch would get the bulk of anyone he went up against on the turf. I still am very surprised how his recruitment wasn't an FBS fit with the absurd size and domination at the point of attack plus a great family bloodline at the Power 4 level.

Cody Lindenberg, Minnesota/Anoka (2020)

The 6'2 236 pounder from the Tornadoes appears from what I have read to be a high priority undrafted free agent, I however feel Cody could be a Day 3 drat pick. Our Minnesota rankings had Cody as our LB3 and ranked #17 overall in our 2020 class.

HS Flashback Tape:

Cody was an all-around athlete for the Tornadoes, but played mostly at safety. He was a rangy one for sure, that could truly play sideline to sideline and played with high stamina when getting downhill and could provide ball carriers with the hit stick from out of nowhere. You could tell at Anoka that Cody was a consistent athlete with a high motor, which I felt translated well to the Gophers as an NFL hopeful this coming Saturday or after.

Yahya Black, DT, Iowa/Marshall (2020)

The 6'6 336 pound defensive tackle from the Marshall Tigers per NFL.com is projected to go in the 5th or 6th round on Saturday in Green Bay. As a 2020 prospect, we had him ranked here at Prep Redzone Minnesota as our DL2 and #6 overall.

HS Flashback Tape:

Back then, Yahka was a 6'6 250 pound that showed off most of his tape reps at left tackle and certainly was one that dominated the point of attack. Yahya showed off as a well-versed run-blocker that fit his hands well on an angle and did so consistently. Persistent just about always from a leverage perspective and he was impressive to with the speed of his hands and at times showed the agility that came with duel-blocking on the same rep.Showed off excellent shedding strength at the 4A level as a defensive end for Marshall on the defensive side of the ball with mammoth hands with high violence. Wouldn't be surprised if Yahya went higher than the 5th-6th round.

Eli Mostaert, DT, NDSU/Lakeville North (2019)

The first team FCS All-American from Lakeville North, is a two time captain for the Bison at defensive tackle. The 6'3 289 pounder, was our DL5 and #26 overall in our Minnesota 2019 rankings.

HS Flashback Tape:

Back in 2019, Eli was 6'3 245 pounder that logged 9.5 sacks and 22.5 tackles for a loss in his senior season at Lakeville North. He showed off a stance that was towering with athleticism as one that was a constant game-wrecker in the defensive trenches for the Panthers. Eli had plenty of pure strength and quickness with his release getting off blocks as a constant run stuffer at defensive tackle. Great power at the point of attack and excellent short area vision. Any NFL team, will love the grit that Eli plays with in the trenches for sure.

Dorian Singer, WR, Utah/Tartan (2021)

Dorian is the first NFL Draft prospect on this list, that I can easily recall scouting several times with Prep Redzone Minnesota out of the 2021 class. Dorian was our WR1 and ranked #10 overall in Minnesota in our class of 2021 rankings. Projected as a day three draft pick out of Utah

HS Flashback Tape:

I remember vividly Dorian being a springy route-runner back in the day, and rolling back the tape that same skillset certainly applies. He showed off some of the best wide receivers hands I have scouted in the state over the last six years and consistently whether it was in HS reps or 7v7 had a constant big play ability that always out-trended his measuarables at 6'0 180 pounds. It didn't matter what side of the ball Dorian was on (played FS too) either, he always brought his athleticism, veritcal, and strong football IQ and determination on every rep I got to watch. I surely hope being in Green Bay this weekend, we at PRZ Minnesota here Dorian get his name called.

Josh Navratil, LB, North Dakota/Pine Island (2019)

The 6'2 235 pounder from Pine Island has entered the NFL Draft as another linebacker from the Fighting Hawks. He was rated as a running back, as our RB10 and #85 overall in the state in our 2019 Minnesota rankings.

HS Flashback Tape:

The 6'1 195 pounder at the time from Pine Island, you could tell off the early tape didn't need much of a window to run thru, as he showed off great vision and an agile one-cut ability to set the tone for the long-haul. It seemed consistent that when Josh got to the second level that is when you could see the suddeness of his burst come out, but yet the frame this young man had showed off a wrecking ball of durable that was built for yards after contact. His natural athleticsm shows me why Josh was wired with position flexibility to linebacker at North Dakota, as you can gauge how well-versed his football IQ was even at that time.

Dakotas

Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State/Pierre T.F. Riggs (2020)

Easily the most talked about name on draft boards out of this entire list in the Dakotas and Minnesota, has been Pierre T.F. Riggs and NDSU offensive linemen Grey Zabel who has trended as high as going in the low 20s in the first round on Thursday in Green Bay based on the mock drafts I have read over the last handful of months. Grey was a year1too early to have a ranking on our Prep Redzone Dakotas site, but surely would have been one of the top overall prospects we would have had in the state.

HS Flashback Tape:

Grey came out of Pierre as a 6'5 just over 240 pounds, which is absurd as coming out of the NFL Combine, he came in at 6'6 312 pounds. He was a All-ESD First Teamer as a senior and tape, showed off highly explosive hip drive with his first step and well-versed pad level at the point of attack.Grey was constantly in the second level as an excellent drive-blocker that possessed a nasty punch back in his days with the Govs. He might have had raw measurables at that time, but Grey is no doubt going to take the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay by storm with how much he has rose his stock in the last several months, his position flexibility in trenchs and the best part, putting his hometown of PIerre even more on the map on a national scale!

Riley Gerhardt, LB, North Dakota/Valley City (2020)

The 6'2 225 pound linebacker from Valley City, was a three time All-Conference linebacker at hometown Valley City State before transferring to the Fighting Hawks as a grad transfer. Riley was one year prior to our launch of Prep Redzone Dakotas, so unfortunately we do not have a ranking for him on our site.

HS Flashback Tape:

The 6'1 200 pound linebacker, showed off instinctive upside that you could see was going to be a sound collegiate target upcoming in his senior season at Valley City High School. His athletic movement showed off intriguing fluidity that brought some range as middle linebacker that could play sideline to sideline. He showed off persausive upside in pass coverage as one skillset that pops out constantly during Riley's high school tape, is surely his vison and developing football IQ. Valley City State was able to get a hometown steal in this young man out of high school.
