The Prep Redzone 7v7 Circuit made a couple stops this weekend and one of them came in the Omaha, Nebraska area for the first time. The weather was rough but every team battled throughout the weekend and we saw some great football being played in every age division. Keep it locked into Prep Redzone Nebraska and some of our neighboring state sites for more breakdowns on all the action. In this post, we're putting the spotlight on the 18U division with eight different quarterbacks that really stood out to us throughout the two days in Nebraska!

Austin Scheuler - 2026 QB - Nebraska Red Wolves (Nebraska)

The Nebraska Red Wolves made a run to the 18U championship game and 2026 quarterback Austin Scheuler was a big reason behind that run. They came up short in the title game but Scheuler was locked in from the start of the weekend until the end of the tournament. He had his team as one of the highest scoring squads and he was rarely putting the ball in danger. We didn't get to see as much of Scheuler in person but hearing from some other workers, Scheuler seemed to be one of the more consistent guys from start to finish.

Brody Schafer - 2027 QB - Sioux Falls Sharks (South Dakota)

These 7v7 tournaments are always full of energy and it's easy to get caught up in that and let your play go up or down with the energy. Sioux Falls Sharks 2027 signal caller Brody Schafer was definitely one of a handful of quarterbacks that remained calm, cool and collected throughout the two days in the Omaha area. Schafer was ripping through defenses and he stood out to us a handful of times on Saturday during pool play. Schafer was incredibly accurate and he was always poised and could make a variety of throws and it didn't matter if he was just standing in the pocket or on the move.

[player_tooltip player_id='458050' first='Cael' last='Kongshaug'] - 2027 QB - Rip City Legends (Iowa)

It didn't take long for the Rip City Legends to have a significant impact this weekend. On paper, they were one of the best 18U teams in attendance with guys that can really impact the game in a variety of ways. For us, one of the standouts was their young quarterback. 2027 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='458050' first='Cael' last='Kongshaug'] really impressed us with his ability to throw the ball at a high level but also distribute the ball around and keep the defense guessing. It seemed like he was always a step or two ahead of the competition and that allowed him to be one of the best quarterbacks that we watched on Saturday during pool play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1265525' first='Carter' last='Temple'] - 2027 QB - Epic 7 (Missouri)

Epic 7 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1265525' first='Carter' last='Temple'] caught our attention early on in bracket play on Sunday. He performed very well and checked a lot of the boxes when it comes to the quarterback position. He passed the eye test physically, he could make a variety of throws at a high level and he was accurate and consistent. Now, looking into Temple a little more, he came to the tournament from Missouri, where he's already considered one of the better quarterback prospects in the state's 2027 class. We can buy into that hype after watching him throw the ball around for a few games this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='401870' first='Drake' last='DeGroote'] - 2026 QB - Level Up Select (Iowa)

Level Up Select 2026 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='401870' first='Drake' last='DeGroote'] came into this tournament as one of the better '26 signal callers in the tournament field. DeGroote is highly regarded in Iowa and he's not a stranger to tearing it up on the PRZ 7v7 Circuit. He dominated at the Oklahoma tournament a year ago and did the same thing this weekend in the Omaha area. DeGroote immediately caught our eye and while he came into the tournament with some hype around his name, he certainly lived up to the hype with his performance. He was definitely one of the best quarterbacks in attendance.

Grant Matson - 2026 QB - Nebraska Red Wolves (Nebraska)

2026 quarterback Grant Matson was one of the first 18U quarterbacks that stood out to us on Saturday. As we've mentioned a few times, the weather was terrible and the quarterbacks had to absolutely battle throughout the two days in Nebraska. Matson battled through the adversity and the really strong competition and made some strong throws and had his team right there in the game where they fell by a point. Matson had command, strong accuracy and was able to push the ball down the field while maintaining both.

Ryan Wirtzfield - 2026 QB - Recruit Ready (Tennessee)

Recruit Ready had some hype coming into the tournament as a program coming down from Canada. 2026 quarterback Ryan Wirtzfield helped the 18U team live up to the hype on Saturday in particular as they absolutely dominated during pool play. The lefty was very impressive to watch up close during two of their games on Saturday. The ball was getting out of his hand and to the receiver in a hurry. Everyone had to deal with wet and windy conditions but it didn't seem to phase Wirtzfield at all. This isn't the first time Wirtzfield has impressed our writers at a PRZ 7v7 tourney. He tore it up in Tennessee in late March.

Xavier Muse - 2026 QB - GRIND 701 (North Dakota)

GRIND 701 made the trip down from North Dakota and they really impressed us throughout the two days. They played two quarterbacks and we could have really featured both guys here but 2026 signal caller Xavier Muse gets the nod. We had a front row seat for one of their games during bracket play on Sunday and Muse was slicing up the defense while he was on the field. Throwing into that consistent north wind, it didn't look like it as he would fit the ball in windows that looked to be too small. That wasn't a problem for Muse this weekend. He's a good looking quarterback with a rifle of an arm.
