The Saint James Academy Standouts Part 1

<p>The Saint James Academy held their first open tryouts this past Sunday for both their High School and Junior high programs. Being in attendance I can certainly attest the positive vibes that new Head Coach Daryl Overton brings were on hand all afternoon. Saint James had over 200 kids from different parts of the east coast on hand to tryout, and many of them made quite the impression. College Coaches and scouts were on hand to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere the Academy provides, here a few of the standouts:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1298523' first='Matthew' last='Moret']</strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/matthew-moret/"><strong></strong><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a> has been one of the best receivers in Northern Virginia for the past two seasons and his all-state talent was on full display this past Sunday. He is an impossible 1v1 matchup and he was cooking the defensive backs all day. You have to really be excited for this young man's future and he could be a major focal point of Coach Overton's offense this fall. Look at the catch he makes during the team drills below, this young man is a star already, you just need to know about him.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/novafootballpod/status/1898841415917953349 </div></figure>   <p class="text-gray-700"></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">2028 rising star [player_tooltip player_id='1529374' first='Kymani' last='Bridge'] was true to his lockdown form this past weekend, he already has played the part in case you were wondering. Playing for Hayfield a season ago, Bridge is a Power 4 prospect with three division 1 offers before his sophomore campaign begins. Quite possible the top defensive back in the Virginia 2028 class (if not overall), Bridge should look really comfortable in the Saint James uniforms.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Defensive lineman Shaun Tyler made his presence known early and often, with many coaches on hand very impressed. You can right away Tyler is not an ordinary high school lineman, he is all muscle and seemingly no body fat. When Coach Overton is giving you a shoutout like this one, you know you have had quite the day. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/CoachOvertonJ/status/1899214474201956726 </div></figure>   <p></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Nearly 700 receiving yards for a loaded Saint Michael's squad as a junior should get you notice anywhere, but [player_tooltip player_id='1297679' first='Matt' last='Holland'] seems to want more. He has been a standout for the Warriors these past couple of seasons and was excellent in front of the Saint James staff at the tryouts. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/HollandMatthew_/status/1881824770049913159 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Competing for their starting quarterback Week 1 could be sophomore to be [player_tooltip player_id='1637628' first='Antonio' last='Guillen']. The young man was throwing dimes including the one below. All the coaches on hand really like the potential of Guillen, and he seems poised under pressure. A 4.0 GPA and a relentless motor, hard to miss the potential out of this gunslinger. He sure will have his hands full with a number of high caliber qbs expected to compete. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Antonio1Guillen/status/1899046233609568479 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">When I got wind that [player_tooltip player_id='1169165' first='Josiah' last='Perry'] was on hand I knew he would not disappoint, the all-conference linebacker sure did his thing. He is a menace on both sides of the ball, and has 2 offers already for his work on the defense. Accumulating 70 tackles as a junior, Perry is an ideal starter from day 1 to lead your defense. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/hitman_Josiah/status/1868830353647190367 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Playing for Edison last fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1637605' first='Gordon' last='Webb'] is a big strong target that any quarterback should be comfortable throwing to over the middle. Webb does a great job of getting off the line of scrimmage and he looks stronger from a season ago, good luck trying to matchup with him 1 on 1. He had quite the day and was really catching coaches attention during the individual sessions. Webb is 6'3 and 200 lbs., looks like he will be playing at the next level in a year from now.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">This young man is a freak off the edge and should transition nicely under Defensive Coordinator [player_tooltip player_id='313738' first='Jeffrey' last='Overton']'s system. Playing for Elenore Roosevelt (Maryland) as a junior, Alexander was one of the state leaders in sacks. I love his closing speed and when he is rushing the passer not too many quarterbacks are going to be able to get around him. He is too fast and physical and he also plays the game with a high football IQ. Really excited to see Alexander terrorizing opposing qbs next fall, he will have more than enough opportunities to do so.</p>
