Another night with the wide receiver group, as we move back to South Dakota to look at our top five 2027 wide receivers from our most updated rankings from just over a week ago that came out. We breakdown the tape, the live evals we have gotten, and meet one of the state's biggest sleepers in the class

First we meet our WR5 in the 2027 SD class, which is [player_tooltip player_id='1264214' first='Jonah' last='Juhl'] out of Brandon Valley. The 6'1 160 pounder got on our radar quickly last 7v7 season as Jonah impressed us at the SF Sharks tournament with his sound length of his strides as just a freshmen and also untapped a great catch radius as well. This is a young man that he relished his best during the live evals I have gotten as he self-reports a 4.19 shuttle which based on the live eval, he certainly showed that off with his cuts on his routes. There might be a lack of tape at the moment for Jonah, but I expect him to be a playmaker with the Lynx passing offense this fall and could be a rise net fall.

Our WR4 oddly enough we got on our board at the same tournament last year as our WR5, and Sioux Falls Lincoln's [player_tooltip player_id='1275451' first='Everett' last='Starks'] was another standout wide receiver from the SF Sharks that got onto our 2027 board. He showed off to be wirey with his route-running and I feel with his 2024 tape he took that agility up some notches. He shows off solid awareness in the open field and is quick to gauge with his football IQ where the first down markers are as one that caught a lot balls underneath and used his athleticsm to get upfield. He also shows off well-versed hands thru contact areas as Everett from the eyes comes across smooth on tape. He is one that I expect to get more opportunites for the Patriots next year on intermediate and deeper routes as this kid has the great fluidity as a route-runner that could move up in the 2027 WR rankings.

Checking in as a 2027 newcomer in this WR group, comes from the home of Wall Drug and some darn good football on tape coming from [player_tooltip player_id='1625460' first='Teelan' last='Kjerstad'] who comes in as our WR3. The 6'1 155 pounder, shows off as a deep threat that can catch in higher traffic areas, utilzing his athleticsm and one that gets great seperation over the top of the safeties on the go. Teelan shows off great balance too around the edges of the field, where you see a few of his first reps of him dominating with his vertical too. Teelan is one that I expect to thrive ahead at camps and the 2025 season upcoming in this 2027 class.

Another newcomer to our 2027 SD wide receiver board is one that caught my attention late in the rankings process, but really impressed was [player_tooltip player_id='1293067' first='Jase' last='Unzen'] of Sioux Falls Jefferson. Jase is extremely twitchy with his cuts as a route-runner and I would say honestly the most agile in this group of wide receivers at the moment. Jase also is one of the best in the group using that football IQ and agility to get yards after contact and at 5'10 170 pounds, shows off a good sized radius too. He also is dynamic in the return game as just like his WR reps, is very efficent utilzing his twitch and contact balance to find the opening and get to the end zone. Jase also shows off excellent speed from start to finish of his route and is a burner getting seperation with all that speed. He is one that I would expect to stay as one of the top WRs in this 2027 class and hopefully can get to camps this summer and show off his skillsets early to college coaches. Super under the radar in my eyes.

Drake moved deep into our top 10 checking into the #2 overall spot as a continious WR1 in the 2027 class out of the 11A 2024 state champion Lennox Orioles. The 6'5 195 pounder has some of the most smooth hands hands the Dakotas has to offer in this 2027 class, and uses his contact balance really well on his routes with a great basketball background. Obviously with those measurables, Drake shows off great length in his wingspan to cash in on precision throws with his reach and also has the massive catch radius Division I coaches are going to want. I also love his ability to improvise on his routes, which is super intriguing on tape. He has the great fluidity with his route-running and is another one in this class without his first offer yet, but I would bet that changes this summer if not before.
