Power House 5v5: 6A and 5A Defensive Linemen

On March 8, 2025, the Power House 5v5 tournament was hosted by Tuni Kanuch in Salt Lake City. There were impressive performers and below are some snippets from some players that caught the eye on the defensive side and in the 6A and 5A regions.    At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Moala lined up as an EDGE rusher and an interior rusher. He had a great first step and was explosive off the line. Moala beautifully blended speed and power and showed off great footwork. His quick, violent hands were on display as was his spin move. Moala routinely used his speed and power to get his linemen out of position and off-balance.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Katoa showcased great physicality and brute strength to go along with a great explosive first step. He already has an array of pass rush moves in his arsenal. He can play any position along the front line and should see action on the varsity side as a Freshman. Katoa has immense talent and it was on full display. Katoa has reclassified to 2030 and is already at 6'0 and 227lbs.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Tauvao displayed a quick burst off the line and powerful hands to win. His speed and power won him many contests. His brute strength overwhelmed many of the linemen. He won on the edge and on the interior and was quite impressive. Light on his feet, strong in his physicality, and quick laterally. Huge riser on the day. An immense talent that will be a force on Friday nights.       At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Makaafi showed great power and technique at the event. He has tremendous strength and violent hands with a quick first step. Makaafi was shown to be an elite inside rusher with great leverage and a player who will command double teams on Friday nights. He blends speed and power and will be a versatile piece that can win on the outside and inside.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Paiva was a force throughout the day. He showcased excellent strength with quick, violent hands. Paiva was quick off the line and was light on his feet. His display of lateral quickness and physicality caught the eye. An excellent outing     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Brown showcased a good first step off the line and lateral quickness using outside and inside moves. His quickness and use of leverage caught the eye and consistently beat his one-on-one. Brown has good footwork and active hands. A 26 riser who will be a versatile piece with his quickness to line up anywhere on the front four.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Uluilakepa showed impressive strength and speed. The combination was blended beautifully as he won many one-on-one reps. Uluilakepa had great leverage throughout the event and his footwork was on full display, he had quick light feet for such a powerful athlete. He competed on both sides of the ball and had great technique.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Branan showcased excellent footwork and technique. He had a quick burst and was light on his feet. He competed on both sides of the ball and showed his versatility.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Pili lined up inside and his first step off the line quickly won him many contests as he got inside his linemen, made his man absorb his power, and got him off balanced, Pili then used his hands to get under him and his footwork to win. He won reps against some top-tier linemen on the day. Pili competed on both sides and showed great technique and leverage throughout the day. Solid showing.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Kofe showcased great size and raw power. He proved to be too much for interior linemen throughout the day. Kofe didn't win on power alone, he has a good first step to get his man off-balanced and used leverage to get underneath and win. He showcased himself as a player who should see immediate playing time at the varsity level this fall, as he'll clog the middle, occupy great spacing, and force opposing teams to double him and scheme plays away from him in gap runs.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Tuha showcased his speed as an EDGE rusher. Not only his quickness off the line but his bend and hip fluidity. Tuha had quick hands and used his speed to gain the advantage over bigger linemen, he then got underneath the linemen and with his man off-balance, finished off the play with his downhill speed. He has a good array of moves that utilize his quickness to win, as he bulks up he will blend that speed with more power. A riser for 2027.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Coester showed excellent bend and hip fluidity and speed as a pure edge rusher. He dipped well and was never off-balance or out of position. Coester's speed won him many matchups. It'll be exciting to see if he morphs into a hybrid LEO role and rush the quarterback more on Friday nights. A good showing for Coester.     At the 2025 Power House 5v5 event, Rowley showed his length and wingspan to be a disruptor. He had a quick first step and his length created a lot of mismatches that got his linemen out of position and he used that to his advantage. Rowley has a great frame and should bulk up as he is a C/O 27. It was a good showing for him.    Those were some names on the defensive side of the ball that caught the eye and made a good showing in the offseason.
