Next Generation of Punters

Punters get overlooked more so than kickers. Having a good punter means setting your defense in good position, or letting them down. I'm diving into the next generation of punters! Let's give into it !    Lucero plays WR/FS/P for Roosevelt. He measures in at 6'4 180-pounds. He had 37 receptions for 674 yards, and 6 touchdowns, 28 total tackles, 2 INT, 2 PD, 38 punts for 1198 yards (1st) and got it inside the 20 8 time (T-1st). He has very good athletic ability to excel/start at 3 positions. Lucero has very good leg strength. He has good hang time on his punts. He has very good kick accuracy, and good placement skills. Due to his ability as a FS, if a returner gets near him, he'll use his very good tackling form, and take them down. Trusty punter who brings versatility to Roosevelt.     Sand measures in at 5'11 160-pounds, and was a reliable punter for Liberty this past season. Leading all sophomores in yards per punt. On 19 punts, he had 871 yards and got it inside the 20 8 times, with his longest being 73 yards. Sand has very good kick power. He explodes into the ball, and launches it forward. Sand's punts have very good hang time, allowing the gunners more time to get to the returner. He has very good kick accuracy and very good kick placement. He's a rising star in the punting department!     Pennick got some punting duties for 5 games last season for the current 5A champions. Measuring in at 6'2 176-pounds, he had 16 punts for 712 yards, got it inside the 20 once. His longest punt was 58 yards, and he had 44.5 yards per punt (2nd). Pennick has very good kick accuracy and good kick placement. He has very good leg strength, and can bomb it downfield with ease. Pennick has good hang time as well. In his limited 5 games punting, he impressed me with his punting abilities, and I would think he'd be the starting punter next year while [player_tooltip player_id='1625972' first='Jolon' last='Quintana'] fully focuses on kicking duties.     Dunning measures in at 6'4 160-pounds, playing QB and punter for Lamar. As a QB, he went 185/300 for 2595 yards, and 61.7% completion rate with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As a punter, he had 29 punts for 1095 yards (2nd) with it going inside the 20 twice. His longest punt was 77 yards(1st). Averaged 37.8 yards per punt. Now Dunning is a stellar QB, however I will be talking about his punting abilities. He has very good leg strength needed to bomb the ball downfield. He launches it up in the air, giving it good hang time for his gunners. Dunning gets the ball high. He has good kick accuracy and good kick placement. He is good under pressure situations as well. As a QB, he stays cool calm and collected and he brings that same energy to punting. Watch out for Dunning!     Measuring in at 5'9 150-pounds, Ontiveros had 25 punts for 956 yards. His longest punt was 54 yards and he averaged 38.2(3rd). Ontiveros has good kick power. He has good leg strength needed to launch the ball in the air. Good hang time and arc of the ball. He has solid kick accuracy and can flip the field for his defense. He has good production, and is another punter to look out for over the next couple of seasons.
