LSU tends to exercise notable patience with its early recruitment of Louisiana's underclassman targets.

But the Tigers have identified their initial in-state priorities for the 2027 cycle, including extending their first seven offers — starting with four in the fall and ramping up with another three so far this spring semester.

Here's a look at some of Louisiana's top rising juniors who have already been prioritized by the home-state SEC program.

The Bearcats' big tight end and multisport standout was the first Louisiana prospect to receiver an offer from the home-state flagship program. Hudson showed flashes of his potential as a freshman with some highlight-reel catches that showcased his catch radius and has continued to develop as an increasingly more consistent player and intriguing prospect, including an all-state sophomore campaign. LSU will have its share of challengers on the recruiting trail in terms of other Power-Four suitors. But Hudson' high-level talent not just on the football field, but on the basketball court, will be another notable angle of his recruiting process to monitor for the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] — 6-4, 205 QB — Dunham

LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan had maintained that he and the staff wanted to wait for the first few weeks of 2027 quarterbacks' sophomore seasons before extending offers in the class. And because of Haven's team playing its Week 4 game on a Thursday, the local standout became the first official target for the cycle. His tall frame, strong arm and athleticism are all immediate eye-catchers, and he helped lead Dunham to a Division-III Select title-game appearance with his Class 2A all-state campaign of 193-for-321 passing (60.1%) for 3,093 yards, 37 touchdowns and seven interceptions, plus another 925 yards and 19 scores on 158 rushes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250887' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] — 6-0, 195 QB — Evangel Christian

"Pop" earned his LSU offer the morning following his Week 4 game as well, one of two in-state quarterbacks and five quarterbacks overall among Sloan and company's top targets at the position for the cycle. Houston lived up to, if not exceeded, high expectations and hype heading into his first season as a varsity starter as he earned Class 5A all-state honors with his 310-for-442 passing (70.1%) for a state-best 4,480 yards and 38 touchdowns, including a record-breaking 800-plus yard game in October, and another 690 yards and seven scores on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='1593644' first='Albert' last='Simien'] — 6-4, 280 OL — Sam Houston

The Broncos' athletic, tenacious blocker rounded out LSU's elite list of fall offers to Louisiana's in-state class as he picked up his the same weekend as the quarterback duo. Simien is a stout mauler of a blocker with enough quickness, mobility and motor that he stood out at left tackle as a sophomore with the abilities to stay in front of smaller, quick edge rusher in pass protection or the climb the field, located defenders in space and unload explosive open-field blocks to help spring big runs.

[player_tooltip player_id='723628' first='Zyron' last='Forstall'] — 6-4, 240 EDGE/DL — Jesuit

The Blue Jays' talented defensive lineman has been one of the nation's fastest-rising 2027 prospects this sophomore year and added an offer from home-state LSU this February during the program's junior day event. Forstall possesses a great frame, quickness and all-around athleticism for the next level and bulked up considerably during the past year adding more power to his game than ever before as he continues to develop into a well-rounded edge rusher capable of beating opposing blockers in a variety of ways. Forstall earned all-district first-team honors in the always-competitive Catholic League this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='739720' first='Jayden' last='Miles'] — 6-2, 205 RB — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

LSU hopes to continue its pipeline from the nearby high school powerhouse just a few miles from campus with the big running back who already earned opportunities as a lead option in his Bears' backfield as a sophomore. Miles is a physical runner who can be difficult for one defender to bring down and shows a willingness to lower his shoulder and overpower attempted tacklers. But he also shows a good burst, some elusiveness, enough speed (a listed 4.6-second 40-yard dash) and some early pass-catching ability that all make him a threat opposing defenses have to respect in multiple ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='934559' first='Javon' last='Vital'] Jr. — 5-10, 185 ATH/WR — Hamilton Christian

The Warriors' versatile and electric standout became the first football player in his school's 35-year history to receive a scholarship offer from LSU. Vital was one of Louisiana's more under-the-radar prospects, from a recruiting standpoint, this fall still early in his high school career at the Class 1A school in Lake Charles — but not for a lack of high-level productivity. The multisport star earned all-state honors with 171 rushes for 1,528 yards and 25 touchdowns, 81-for-136 passing for 1,239 yards and 18 scores, a combined 460 yards and four scores on punt and kick returns and an interception.
