Today, I'm looking at the next wave of defensive linemen in the 2029 class. All of these prospects were brought to my attention by my colleague Al Pops who heads our Prep Redzone Next division. Let me tell you, there are some straight studs coming through the pipeline. A lot of these guys are both physically and technically advanced for their age. Keep an eye on them as they enter their first high school season, as a few could be appearing at the varsity level next fall.

DE: [player_tooltip player_id='1041003' first='Eddison' last='King'], 6'1" 210

This kid looks like a man amongst boys out there and doesn't look like an eighth grader one bit. He's got excellent body control, he's quick to get off blocks he can rush the passer, and has terrific athleticism at this stage of his career. He shows a high motor & will chase down the football, he's got a great first step, he plays with a low pad level, and he can slip his way through opposing double teams. This kid is like a banshee on tape and can create chaos in the backfield.

DT: K'von Fontenot, 6" 275

This kid's speed gives offensive linemen problems, he can bend at the point of attack and does a good job of dropping his hips and dipping & ripping around the edge. He manhandles 1 on 1 blocks, he can corral ball carriers out of awkward body positions and will look to swallow up ball carriers when given the chance. He's super sudden for a guy his size and has a ferocious playing style.

DE: Malakai “Mojo” Vailahi, 5'10" 225

Mojo is still growing into his body but has a ton to like about him already on tape. He plays relentless, he's quicker than he is fast, he's got lethal hands that can cause a blockers head to snap back and must be accounted for on runs toward him or away. He can play with his hand in the dirt or as a stand-up and does a good job mixing up rush tempos to confuse blockers. I think as he continues to grow, he'll kick inside to defensive tackle at the next level.

DT: [player_tooltip player_id='1140385' first='Jarell' last='Scott'], 6" 275

Scott is tough to move at the point of attack and has the strength and lateral quickness to shed a block late and fold inside to make a tackle. He shoots off the snap and can create knockback on his opponent, he uses deception to shed blocks and will use his power and flexibility to defeat slide protections towards him.
