It's virtually impossible to cover all of the worthy student-athletes from all corners of the state. We're reminded of that fact every time we update our rankings here at Prep Redzone Iowa, like Thursday, when the revised 2026 list dropped.

Here's a look at some newcomers to the rankings:

It's easy to be overshadowed at four-time defending state champion Southeast Polk. That was the case for Cantrall, who was one of many mouths to feed on the talented Ram offense in 2024. He still managed 19 receptions for 248 yards and two touchdowns while also providing important blocking in the run game. Army, Pittsburg State and Grand View offered him scholarships in February. His junior highlight video reveals a well-rounded tight end that embraces blocking and also stresses defenses as a receiver.

The son of former Iowa Basketball standout Dean Oliver, [player_tooltip player_id='1295632' first='Isaiah' last='Oliver'] recently picked up his first D-I offer from South Dakota. When you watch his junior highlight video, you sense that more opportunities will be coming his way once he hits college camps in the summer. A talented hooper, Oliver shows the type of athleticism and stamina that sport requires when he's on the gridiron. He wins contested balls with good timing and jumping ability. He ranked second on the Wolves in receptions (36) and TD catches (6) last season, his first in Iowa after spending his first two years of high school in Wisconsin.

Milburn is a really good athlete that excels on the basketball court, too. That quickness and agility show up on the football field, leaving open multiple position possibilities on the next level. His frame could take on good weight without him losing any of his athletic advantages. He caught 25 passes for 427 yards and six touchdowns in '24. He produced 3.5 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble on defense. Milburn gets off of the line nicely before becoming a matchup problem running routes. He shows he's a receiving threat and a knack for blocking during his junior high video.

I scouted Lewis is person twice last season, once in September and then again during the state semifinals in November. He improved during that time and still has room to go before reaching his potential. That should excite college coaches. Lewis stands out for his ability to read offenses and then carry out assignments. His hip movements and lateral quickness aid him in pass coverage. He embraces the physicality needed in stuffing the run. Lewis shines during his junior highlight video.

Etuma paced a salty City High defense with 11.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks as a disrupter on the D-Line. I scouted him twice in person during the year and left impressed both times. He's not going to wow anyone over getting off the bus as an undersized edge, but he'll win you over when you watch his junior highlight video. Etuma is jet-quick off of the snap and uses his hands effectively. He does well in keeping his eyes up and on the target before separating from blocks. Etuma even showed the ability to drop into coverage.

Laubenthal's contributions were vital for a Lightning outfit that reached the state semifinals for the first time last season. He tied for the team lead with four interceptions, adding 33.5 tackles (21 solo). On offense, two of his seven receptions resulted in touchdowns. I saw Laubenthal several times in person in '24, including at the UNI-Dome in November's Final Four. He's athletic with speed and good balls skills. Laubenthal shows fluid hips in changing directions. He has the potential for a continued rise of the rankings.
