The 2025 Prep Redzone 7v7 Circuit kicked off in north Texas with the second annual Lonestar State Showdown. It was a great weekend of football in Frisco and we've been dropping a ton of content, looking at some of the best players that stood out. In this breakdown, we're wrapping up our 12U coverage by emptying out the notebook from this weekend. Some notes on a few teams as well as a look at some of the other standouts from this division.

Lumberjack Elite and 940 Elite both proved that they were the class of the division this weekend from start to finish. They played each other on Saturday in pool play and it came down to the wire with 940 Elite holding on for a close win. We thought at the time that it could end up being a preview of the 12U championship game and we were right. The two teams met again on Sunday morning but this time Lumberjack Elite came out on top and took home the trophy. And with the win, Lumberjack Elite earned the very first free bid to the Prep Redzone National Championship at the Pro Football Hall Of Fame on April 26th-27th. We can only hope that both of these teams come to Canton or at the very least, to one of our other PRZ tournaments for a potential third match-up. Keep it locked into Prep Redzone for more coverage of this weekend's Lonestar State Showdown!

Brycen Nguyen - 2030 Wide Receiver - North Louisina Hybrids

We talked with the North Louisiana Hybrids coach before they started playing on Saturday and he pointed to Brycen Nguyen as a player to watch for them. He told us that they call him "Wes Welker" and after watching him play for two days in Frisco, we now know why. Simply put, Nguyen was catching just about anything thrown his way throughout the tournament. There was one catch that wasn't even in a play. A ball got thrown in from the sideline, Nguyen jumped up to catch it with one hand and came down with it like it was nothing. The coach turned and said "I told you," and he was definitely right. Nguyen was catching everything throughout the day on Saturday and that continued into Sunday. He runs good routes, finds a way to get open and has incredibly reliable hands.

Sam Snow - 2031 Defensive Back - Serial Skillaz

It was a tough weekend for the Serial Skillaz out of Oklahoma but it was also their first ever tournament and they were playing up a couple age levels as a lot of the kids were 9 or 10 year olds. One player that stood out thought was 6th grader Sam Snow in the secondary. This team had some positive plays throughout the weekend and more times than not, it was Snow making those plays. In bracket play on Sunday, an opponent threw the ball into the end zone and Snow made a fantastic leap and snag for the interception to keep that opponent off the scoreboard. After talking with their coach, it sounds like they'll be coming to our Oklahoma tournament, which will have a 10U division and we could see them come back with a vengeance next month.

Shante Wells - 2030 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - North Louisiana Hybrids

Another standout from the North Louisiana Hybrids was 2030 two-way player Shante Wells and he got the job done as a wide receiver and as a defensive back. Wells was making big plays throughout the weekend but he definitely caught our attention on Sunday with his ability on the offensive side of the ball. Now, going back and looking over some of our notes from the weekend, Wells was pretty consistent on both sides of the ball as one of their top players. But offensively, Wells made some big catches and some impressive ones throughout the day on Sunday. The Hybrids came up short in bracket play but Wells, along with Nguyen are definitely going to be names to know moving forward. They both have a lot of natural talent that should just improve from here.
