Class of 2026 DB Sleepers

DB is one of, if not the hardest position to scout on tape. The main reason being not a lot of teams run man coverage, and even fewer teams run a pass-heavy offense, so even if you are a man team, you'll still face few pass-heavy offenses. Still, I can scout play speed, run stopping, effort, and some pass defense pretty effectively. Here are a few sleepers in the class of 2026- all having a good chance of earning college offers this Spring.    Strengths   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great play speed</li>   <li>Solid against outside run / screens</li>   <li>Good plays at WR</li>   <li>Above-average athletic ability</li> </ul>   Weaknesses   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Consistently reacts a tad late</li>   <li>Above average but not great change of direction</li> </ul>   I like Jack's tape. Surely better than last season's tape. I like his explosiveness, and he has above-average change of direction. Good size as well. I could see him being a Low D2 safety, but overall, I need to see more     Strengths   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Goes for ball</li>   <li>Decent in zone coverage</li>   <li>Good ball skills</li> </ul>   Weaknesses   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Weak against run; size does not help</li>   <li>Average change of direction</li> </ul>   Wes was at West Bloomfield for his first two years, then transferred to Walled Lake Western. Did well at Western, but his film exposes some of his athletic traits. I don't love his change of direction, and he needs to be better in run support. I need to see more man coverage. All in all, I'm extremely optimistic for his Senior season. Fully expect Wes to build off of his good Junior season.     Strengths   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Excellent leader</li>   <li>Extremely kind</li>   <li>Good play speed</li> </ul>   Weaknesses   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Very small</li>   <li>A little timid when stopping run</li> </ul>   Trae was perhaps my standout of the summer last year. He was the kindest, and best leader I saw all year. During the MHSAA Evaluation camp, Trae talked to everyone, was always smiling, and he made a few plays in zone coverage. he even called out routes and talked to teammates after plays to better plan for the next play. I don't actually know how great an IQ he has, but that performance left a big impression on me. Amazing locker room guy, decent player, D3 DB     Strengths   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Sneaky-fast</li>   <li>Two-way player</li>   <li>Solid run stopper</li> </ul>   Weaknesses   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Hesitates a lot</li>   <li>Testing times and film do not correlate</li>   <li>Needs to learn how to play with better play speed, show off his skills</li> </ul>   Tough evaluation for Jack. My gut says he's not polished enough at DB in order to earn anything more than D3 offers. Also markets himself as a WR/RB, but he looks stiff and doesn't have great contact balance. If he's a good leader, he could go D3. Jack is someone who would very greatly benefit from offseason prospect camps. His athleticism could pop!     Strengths   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Decent tackling technique</li>   <li>best open-field tackler on team</li> </ul>   Weaknesses   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Indecisive</li>   <li></li>   <li>All-around not polished</li>   <li>BAD strength of schedule</li> </ul>   A good player on a bad team. Wraps up well. Tackles in open space. Little pass coverage highlights. I have very little information on Eli, and he's another one that could be a prospect but overall needs to prove himself this offseason.
