2027 Rankings Update- Defensive Stock Risers Across the State

Fleming is a lockdown corner who excels in coverage- he does a great job tracking opposing QBs eyes and frequently breaks on routes to jar free/pick off passes. QBs actively avoid Fleming's side of the field, he provides such good coverage that some QBs won't even look his way. Fleming also plays with incredible instincts and athleticism- he is terrific at identifying and reacting to plays and has the speed to fly around the entire field and create huge stops regardless of where he lines up pre-snap. Fleming was super productive last season, ending his sophomore campaign with 63 total tackles (40 solo, 4 for loss), one interception, and 6 pass breakups. Fleming has had a terrific offseason in the recruiting world, picking up offers from Sacramento State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, and plenty of other top-tier programs. Malone is extremely versatile and makes plays everywhere on the field- he's dominant in coverage, excels at corner blitzes, and can even make splash plays on special teams by blocking FGs. Malone is outstanding in press man, he's extremely physical at the LOS, doesn't allow for WRs to win off their releases, and sticks with them the entire length of the field- making life incredibly difficult for opposing QBs. Malone has great ball skills as well, if the ball is thrown his way, he's going to get his hands on it- he's excellent at jarring the ball free/picking off passes, consistently coming up with huge stops out in the secondary. Malone is also really reliable as a tackler, he does a great job wrapping up and doesn't allow for any kind of yardage after initial contact is made. Malone just picked up his first offer from UAB a few weeks back, and with how well he's played for Gulf Shores, this is just the first of many! Brewer is a dominant run defender- he is excellent at filling in rushing lanes and making tackles at/behind the line of scrimmage, it's so hard for offenses to find any rhythm in their rushing game with how good he is at identifying and reacting to plays. Brewer is an excellent tackler- he wraps up really well, can dish out some big hits, and has the speed to make tons of sideline-to-sideline plays all over the field. One of the most impressive things I saw with Brewer's tape is seeing what he can do on the goal line. Brewer uses his excellent play recognition/run-defending skills to completely demolish teams in the red zone, he singlehandedly stopped several TD-scoring plays last season, consistently flying into the backfield to create huge plays for loss when it mattered most. Brewer was incredibly productive last fall- ending his sophomore campaign with 166 total tackles (113 solo, 20 for loss), 5 forced fumbles, and one interception. McCorvey flies to the ball every snap, he's excellent at reading and reacting to plays and consistently puts himself in great position to create stops for his defense. McCorvey is incredibly versatile and creates so many different challenges for opposing offenses- he can line up and cover WRs one-on-one, make huge plays in the box against the run, and generate great pressure on QBs, frequently forcing them into bad passes/decisions. McCorvey put up a great season last fall for Thompson's defense- ending his year with 26 total tackles (15 solo, one for loss), 2 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. has seen his recruitment open up a lot this offseason- picking up offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Missouri, and plenty of others. May is a relentless pass rusher with tons of potential- he has great size and speed he uses to completely overwhelm opposing OL, fighting off double teams (sometimes even triple) to get to the QB and make plays. It's extremely impressive watching May rush the passer- more often than not, Ramsay only rushes 3 and still can produce tons of pressure and plays in the backfield with how dominant May is upfront. May is also a terrific run defender- he completely closes up rushing lanes by himself, generating great penetration on the LOS and taking down the ball carrier for little to no gain every time they run the ball his way. May has picked up a lot of collegiate attention this offseason, listing offers from WKU, UT Martin, Arkansas State, and plenty of others over the last month.
