Uncovered Gems – OK Green #3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Happy end of January! Today, we're looking even further into the OK Green. Several great teams, some state championship contenders, some on the up and up, and some sleeping giants. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All of these prospects have a shot to wind up on college rosters one day. In this instance, he runs left hash to right hash to execute a block on the DB. The very next play, he executes a good trap on the unsuspecting defensive tackle. Great job to not just hit the opposing DT, but to drive him backward. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Vincent is a prototypical guard. Some pretty good power, good footwork, and works his tail off to pull and execute more difficult blocks. For instance, 0:47 showcases good speed and, of course, an ability to follow his blocks. Watch the first minute of his tape, and you'll see a TON of great, efficent runs. Not much in the form of contact balance or elusiveness, but still, good speed and vision. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>1:35 is an example of Andrew's passing abilities. His all-around throwing motion looks a bit raw, but hey, he got the ball where it needed to be. 1:53 is a very similar play- Andrew drops back, and throws a well-placed deep ball. The aspect of his game that I'm most impressed with is his play speed. 0:44 shows a very good getoff, Joshua then cuts back to stop the inside run and nearly forces a fumble. At 0:19, Joshua does an excellent job of recognizing the pull, absorbing the hit, and tackling the RB. Joshua has very similar highlights on the offensive line- good effort, good physicality, and great play speed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Joshua's upside likely lies on the defensive line. It's a shorter highlight tape, so that makes for a shorter evaluation. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Especially considering his size, Andy did well at Center. The bulk of his highlights show Andy 1on1 with a head-up defender. In these instances, he does a solid job of engaging with the block, then attempting to drive the defender backward. Though in order to be a Varsity lineman, he'll likely need to bulk up. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One other thing- Andy doesn't properly highlight himself on tape. He circles the entire O-Line, which makes it confusing. Cole's highlight tape is on the shorter side and does not include any passes. Yet, his rushing ability is excellent for a class of 2028 (freshman) prospect. Cole runs the option to perfection in his first highlight. He correctly reads "pull", and explodes up the middle of the field before spinning out of a tackle and carrying his momentum into the endzone. Then, at 0:25, Cole showcases that spin move and open-field elusiveness once again. <br>Cole is way ahead of the curve when it comes to athleticism.
