Queen City Senior Bowl: Defensive Standouts

<p>The Queen City Senior Bowl is a Charlotte-Metro area all-star game for 80 senior players. A portion of the proceeds from the game go to benefit the Metro School, a school who educated children with multiple types of disabilities in Charlotte. The West Team won the bowl game 17-14 in overtime to take a 4-2 all-time series lead over the East Team. We will highlight some players who starred on the defensive side of the ball in this game.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Jasha was simply a wrecking machine in this game, he was all over the field, sideline to sideline, making tackles. Jasha was the leading tackler in the game with 10 tackles, and he also had the only sack of the game for the West Team. Jasha picked up an offer from Fairmont State University after a very good week of bowl practice with multiple college coaches in attendance. Jasha's physical frame and athleticism are a nice canvas for college coaches to work with. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Tank came into the Queen City Senior Bowl with an offer from Hampden-Sydney College, but not a lot of fanfare and media attention otherwise. But, Tank stole the show with two impressive first-half interceptions and won the Defensive MVP award for the game. On his first interception, Tank showed excellent focus and concentration, tipping the ball and then maintaining the effort to catch the ball after tipping it initially. On his second interception, Tank made an incredible diving catch on the play. Tank spoke after his second interception below. </p>   <p><a href="https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1870540212302188598">https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1870540212302188598</a></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Solomon had an incredible week of bowl practice - he was making interceptions daily from his defensive back spot, and that work carried over to the game as well. Solomon made a nice interception, playing his assigned zone and getting the appropriate depth on the play. Solomon then high-pointed the ball perfectly in the end zone, giving the West Team its 4th interception on the day. On a muffed snap, Edmond did a great job of hustling on the play on a quarterback rollout away from his assigned zone. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1369485' first='Marquez' last='Allison'] was alert and tipped an attempted pass, and because of his hustle and speed, Edmond was right there to make the interception. Edmond was the leading tackler for the Titans this season and showed his abilities well in this game. </p>   <p><a href="https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1870553615901118747">https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1870553615901118747</a></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Zion was a terror on the defensive line in this game for the East Team, as he had 6 tackles and a sack, and several plays where his speed off the edge disrupted plays for the West Team. Zion has been picking up some well-deserved recruiting attention with an offer from Bluefield University and several other college game visits. With 93 tackles and 20 sacks this past season, it's obvious that Zion can make an impact on the next level. A smart school will see his elite burst and motor, and leverage that and get a steal for sure. </p>   <p><a href="https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1867646872724082722">https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1867646872724082722</a></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Kemarion made a major impact play in the bowl game, as the West had momentum driving toward a touchdown. After two big pass plays, the West tried a reverse Wide Receiver pass that Kemarion read perfectly which led to him returning his interception for 74 yards, which set up the East's first touchdown of the game and gave them a 7-0 lead going into halftime. Kemarion also added three tackles in the game. Kemarion is a special athlete who has done some great things in his high school career. He made a dynamic duo with [player_tooltip player_id='457612' first='Zion' last='Burden'] on the opposite end of the defensive line, making things tough offensively for the West Team at the right critical times. Ian recently picked up an offer from Emory & Henry, and throughout his career, he has received a good bit of recruiting attention. With Ian's size, physical ability, and burst off of the football, it is no doubt he deserves to be on a college football roster.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/qc_seniorbowl/status/1868013924320448802 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Throughout all week in East Team Bowl Practice, Emmanuel was as vocal a leader as I can remember in the 6-year history of the Queen City Senior Bowl. As a rover on defense, in the bowl game Emmanuel was all around the football, nearly pulling in two nice interceptions and continuously supporting his defensive teammates on and off the football field. On the season, Emmanuel had 84 total tackles and 20 tackles for loss. He is simply one of the players that makes your program better on and off the football field. </p>
