In an unprecedented display of talent, five high school prospects from the same school turned heads at the 7th PRZ PA StockUp Showcase this past weekend. Hailing from The Pennington School in South Jersey, these standout athletes not only showcased their individual skills but also demonstrated how serious the staff over at TPS takes developing their players. All five Pennington Red Hawks were named to an All-Camp Team, with three being placed on our 1st-Team. I will do all I can to boost their collective performance so that the right eyes see what all five young men are capable of.

Was recently added to our 3rd-Team All-Camp list. Was selected as a notable camp attendee by [player_tooltip player_id='1539423' first='Pat' last='Weider'], as well as coaches present. I didn't get to fully focus on linebackers as much as I would have liked, yet I'm willing to share notes from what college coaches present told me post-camp. Many coaches in attendance went on about Saurman's adaptability throughout drills. Makes sense, considering Saurman was one of the more versatile prospects in attendance. A backer who can play safety and wideout, some coaches in attendance wanted to see him at back during drills. This all a testament to his multi-faceted skill set. I saw Saurman react to situations quickly. Great anticipator in this setting. I wish I had the chance to watch him a bit more. I'll be on the lookout to read [player_tooltip player_id='1539423' first='Pat' last='Weider']'s more detailed analysis on all things backs and backers releasing in the coming days.

The top-ranked freshman prospect in all of New Jersey was in attendance this past weekend at Spooky Nook. I have gone on record on several occasions, stating each time that [player_tooltip player_id='1206968' first='Tahmere' last='Brown'] is one of the more special talents I've laid eyes this past Fall. Having him in the building set the tone for all backs in attendance. Brown received 2nd-Team All-Camp honors. Looking back, I consider it an oversight on behalf of the coaches present to not name him a Top Five performer. I didn't cover backs at the event, yet any time I looked over at Brown working through Indi's or 1v1s, he was winning reps, and looking impressive when doing so. I fall to the coach's evaluation in the end. Regardless of the fact, this is a Power Four back with a Power Four competitive drive to be the best he can be each day. Brown has PRZ in his back pocket moving forward.

I was able to watch substantial drone footage, footage that showed off [player_tooltip player_id='1296558' first='AJ' last='Cartusciello']'s complete skill set. Worked almost exclusively at center, an area/alignment he thrives in. We didn't have pads or helmets, yet I made sure to watch Cartusciello's stance, as well as the pad level he was working with. Cartusciello showed off a phenomenal base, both balanced and efficient. A 315-pound linemen who didn't scream stiff. A low-leverage maintainer, he was a boulder that inside defenders had pretty much no shot at moving backward. Great initial puncher, Cartusciello's blows land, I could see a considerable shock delivered after the snap during 1v1s. A lot of what Cartusciello showed in person is what you see on tape, which is why we like to see kids in this setting. He validated himself. Speaking to my colleague Carl Frederick, Cartusciello was the lead man for MVP behind La Salle's [player_tooltip player_id='1352750' first='Danny' last='Lawyer'], who ended up taking home MVP honors. Great to see him perform well. Many coaches loved his temperament too, great attitude, and wanted to finish with violence, even in a setting like this.

A Division One football player. I felt so beforehand, what [player_tooltip player_id='1213095' first='Nisaiah' last='Maldonado'] displayed in person further solidified that notion. A real 6'5, a real 290. Drone footage showed he work almost exclusively at guard during 1v1s. A ton of wins. As consistent as they can get, I can see Maldonado execute the same techniques over and over, a testament to whoever is training/developing the young man. He looked to approach each rep with the same mentality and tech, Maldonado set the tone during each 1v1 rep. Fantastic balance through contact, a kid you can rely on to recover quickly, yet those instances were few and far between at this event. A power absorber thanks to a strong lower back and fantastic build. No defender aligned across Maldonado rivaled him in size and strength, it was up to him to establish dominance utilizing both of those traits. He did just that. Great mirror man, can stay in front of lateral movers thanks to technique moreso athleticism. Maldonado is athletic, let's not disregard that area of his game. Maldonado has the flexible hips and choppy feet necessary to stay in front of quick IDL. I think he could be a capable tackle at the next level too. Was named a top-five OL performer, was also named to the All-Camp 1st-Team list.

The easy choice for QB MVP at this event, despite there being several highly-ranked passers in attendance. This comes from the coaches present too, I didn't have to plug [player_tooltip player_id='510788' first='Cannon' last='Benzio']'s name much post-camp. I, as well as coaches in attendance, were all under the impression that no QB outplayed Benzio at this event. Benzio is going to explode onto the scene in terms of production once he gets his shot to start full-time at Pennington. I was basing a substantial amount of my prior eval on what people close to him have said. After this event, I have tangible evidence that backs up bold claims I've made in the past. Benzio's size/build checks out immediately. The kid is as advertised when watching him work in person. Yes, Benzio is just a 2027, yet I feel good about his potential durability at the next level, so long as he stays in the weight room. Consistency is high on my totem pole when evaluating QBs in a setting like the one presented last weekend at Spooky Nook. Can you replicate accurate passes, can you hit corner routes in-stride over and over again, can you replicate your release and have it look the same with each passing rep. I came away pleased with Benzio here. Each time I saw Benzio work a rep, I trusted knowing it would look the same hours from then.

Benzio flaunted a clean neutral stance. Relaxed but under control, balanced, the young man looks to avoid unnecessary movements. Stepped into each throw, finishes throws by following all the way through, puts the sword in the sheath. Deadly accurate, this was my major takeaway post camp. Love the depth perception he works with. Love the ideas he has with the football. I witnessed Benzio throw into tight windows, this while working with wideouts he has zero chemistry with. Benzio mixed tempo too, he could throw dots in tight coverage, he could lay balls out in front of speedy wideouts too. Great overall performance that led to Benzio being named QB MVP.
