WEST COLUMBIA | [player_tooltip player_id='1165148' first='Jachin' last='Davis'] scored from a 1-yard out on the final play of the game and [player_tooltip player_id='1592672' first='CJ' last='Falotico'] kicked the extra point from 35 yards out to rally the East to a 21-20 victory in the annual South Carolina High School Blitz Junior Showcase game Sunday afternoon at Airport High School.

PrepRedZone was on hand and will go in-depth with the offensive standouts today. We will release coverage of our defensive stalwarts on Monday morning.

East Squad

[player_tooltip player_id='816740' first='Marcus' last='Cann'] WR, Bamberg-Ehrhardt

The East team had a hard time moving the ball on the ground, so the passing attack was their best friend. Cann came into the game listed as an athlete, but he settled in nicely playing in the slot. He caught a game-high eight passes for 79 yards and had a big catch on the game-winning drive.

[player_tooltip player_id='473013' first='Carter' last='Coleman'] WR, Blythewood

Coleman took away the overall MVP honors after his four catch, 98-yard performance. He caught two touchdown passes in the first half, covering 26 and 49 yards. His first TD came was the 26-yarder from [player_tooltip player_id='1165148' first='Jachin' last='Davis'] where Coleman jumped over his defender to catch the pass just inside the pylon. The second came on the final play of the first half on a 49-yard scramble play. Coleman caught a 22-yard pass at the West 2-yard line with 25 seconds remaining to set up the winning score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1165148' first='Jachin' last='Davis'] QB, Stratford

Davis turned out to be the most effective passer on the afternoon and that allowed him to win the MVP honors for the quarterbacks. The Knights signal-caller threw the two TDs to Coleman in the first half and then powered in from the 1-yard line on the final play of the game. He finished 15-of-22 for 237 yards passing and was the QB coach Corey Crosby wanted in the second half.

[player_tooltip player_id='1592672' first='CJ' last='Falotico'] K, Philip Simmons

The Philip Simmons kicker didn't get many opportunities on the afternoon but when Davis tied the score with no time on the clock, Falotico was called on to make the game-winning extra point. But it wasn't an ordinary extra point. The East squad received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the TD, so that turned the point after touchdown into a 35-yarder. Special teams weren't live, but Falotico calmly knocked it right down the middle for the game-winning point.

[player_tooltip player_id='797160' first='Moon' last='Gerald'] QB, Loris

The East team had trouble running the football all afternoon. Gerald ended up being the leading ground-gainer with 41 yards on four attempts. He had a nifty 36-yard run that was the highlight of the ground game. He was also 4-of-7 passing for seven yards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1165144' first='Tony' last='O'Banner'] RB, Thomas Heyward

There was a lot of talk if O'Banner would fit in coming from the SCISA ranks but there's no question he looked and played the part. He had trouble getting going – all the East backs did – but he did other things well. He blocked well in pass protection and caught two passes for 24 yards. He ran for just a tick under 2,000 yards this season and averaged 12.7 yards per touch. He's poised to have an even bigger senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1551561' first='Aaden' last='Starnes'] OL, Hartsville

The East team found the ground game tough sledding with just 56 yards on 31 attempts. But they were able to throw for 251 yards and put together an 82-yard game-winning drive when it mattered. Starnes played tackled and he more than held his own against a talented front four on the West side.

West Squad

[player_tooltip player_id='1165753' first='Tre' last='Aiken'] OL, Clinton

Aiken was the highest ranked player from PrepRedZone in the game and he didn't disappoint. The West ended up with 373 yards of total offense with 149 yards on the ground. One of the biggest cheers of the game came when Aiken engaged a defender in the secondary and drove him out of bounds onto his back. Aiken was named Offensive Lineman MVP for his efforts.

Jayden Boyd WR, Fairfield Central

Boyd only caught the 45-yard touchdown pass from [player_tooltip player_id='1639712' first='Triston' last='Lewis'] but the route he ran on that play was highlight reel. He got his defender turned around on an inside move, then ran a go route where Lewis just had to throw it out there for Boyd to go get. He blocked well in the running game and showed he's an all-around receiver and not just one to use in the passing game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1165128' first='RJ' last='Brown'] WR, Lancaster

Brown might have been the smallest receiver on either side, but he made his presence felt early and often. And the typically plays quarterback for the Bruins but his transition to WR was a smooth one. He found himself wide open several times and caught three of his five targets for 139 yards and a touchdown. He wasn't a burner but more of a precise route runner that ad lib when a play broke down. He averaged 46.3 yards per catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1639712' first='Triston' last='Lewis'] QB, Greenwood

The West Team only completed five passes all afternoon and those had to come in the first half when they jumped to a 20-0 lead after four possessions. Lewis connected with Jayden Boyd on a 45-yard TD one play after the defense stuffed the East Team on a four-and-one attempt. Lewis and Cam McMillon alternated series on a windy afternoon, making it difficult to get into a rhythm. Lewis completed 3-of-10 for 137 yards with a touchdown and interception.

[player_tooltip player_id='816752' first='Will' last='Love'] K, Spartanburg

Love was outstanding and his most impressive moment didn't even count. He kicked field goals of 33 and 38 yards to open the scoring for the West. He averaged 54 yards on three punts and all three of them landed inside the 20. But special teams weren't live so that gave the coaches opportunities that they might not normally attempt. Love lined up for a 54-yard field goal that resulted in a bad snap, resulting in no scoring on the play. But the officials let Love try anyway and he split the uprights, matching his career-long 54 yards that he hit against Byrnes this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='473002' first='Cameron' last='McMillon'] QB, South Pointe

The Stallions QB was able to create some things with his legs, including a 52-yard TD strike to [player_tooltip player_id='1165128' first='RJ' last='Brown'] in the first quarter. McMillon scrambled out of trouble, set his feet and found Brown running across the field wide open for the score. McMillon had a long run of 17 yards and even though he only completed 2-of-8 passes for 87 yards, he kept plays alive with his feet several times.

[player_tooltip player_id='1267286' first='Amadre' last='Wooden'] RB, Batesburg-Leesville

Wooden became the workhorse, just like he was in the Panthers attack this season. He carried it 14 times for 85 yards, a 6.1-yard average. He never reached the end zone but several times he kept the sticks moving when the West Team needed it. He's a bruiser that brushes off tackles, but he also stuck his foot in the ground several times and made a cut to make the defenders miss.
