Uncovered Gems #9 - OAA Red Offense #1

Every year, the OAA Red features several breakout players on the offensive side of the ball. This article series is all bout showcasing the unranked players, but much of the time, those unranked players are on the verge of their breakout season.   Here are five more unranked evaluations, this time from Clarkston, West Bloomfield, and Rochester Adams.    Ty has an excellent foundation to build off of heading into his Junior season.   I'll be honest- it doesn't look like Ty is currently an excellent athlete. Overall speed, change of direction, etc aren't great. What IS great is his vision. I mean, play after play, Ty demonstrates exceptional vision, truly making the most out of every touch. At 0:36, Ty cuts inside and turns what would be a loss into a 50-yard touchdown. His first highlight shows similarly excellent vision- cutting back, navigating through traffic, and securing an 85-yard touchdown.   Ty should be a good varsity contributor next season. I don't think he'll earn the RB1 spot until his senior season, but I do expect him to eventually earn a ton of carries. Ty will remain on the watch list for now!      I expect Mal to take the QB1 spot at West Bloomfield next season, and man am I excited for that!   His season highlights are quite good, especially when it comes to running the football. At 0:53, he can't find anyone downfield, so he tucks, runs, and scores a 15-yard TD against an excellent Groves defense. Great speed displayed there. Plays like 4:33 display his passing ability. I don't love his overall throwing ability; he looks pretty raw, but he'll still be an excellent quarterback if he can read a defense.   Mal also has several defensive plays. I could easily see him playing DB in college, perhaps at the D2 level.   He'll probably be ranked in this next update!      Shorter highlight tape here. Ronan had a few solid moments this season, a few decent run blocks, but overall, not a ton of playing time, it looks like. He does his job- gets in front of his defender and keeps him from making a play. I'd love to see better physicality and power in the future. Also, Ronan needs to make sure he's highlighted on every play in the tape. He oftentimes doesn't, and pretty much every college coach would dismiss this tape as a result.      Most of Mick's highlights are at QB, with a few special teams & WR plays sprinkled in.   Mick is a solid all-around quarterback. Plays like 0:21 and 0:44 showcase his rushing abilities—he runs hard, follows his blocks, and has a decent stiff arm. He doesn't have excellent athleticism, but he gets the job done. Lastly, he doesn't have a ton of passing highlights, but plays like 1:10 show an ability to get the ball out quickly and semi-accurately.   Good stuff. Mick will likely be on the Watch List for the next rankings update in February!      To finish things off we've got [player_tooltip player_id='1613751' first='Brady' last='Lindstrom'], Quarterback for Rochester Adams.   Some good JV highlights below. He runs the Adams offense just as you'd expect: good in the option game, hard running, and an overall relentless player. Plays like 3:28 show that relentless style of running. Especially for Brady's size, he's such a good runner.   With passing, he's a bit underdeveloped, but that's to be expected from any Veer QB.   Expect Brady to be ranked on the lower side next update.
