Uncovered Gems #18 - OK Red Offense #4

To end the year, we're taking one final look at the OK Red. I've written a ton of articles in the past week covering this league, and the depth of every single team has impressed me greatly. Today, we're taking a look at a few players that I should have watched a long time ago. This final article of the year includes players from Grand Haven, Grandville, Hudsonville, and East Kentwood!    Grand Haven has a ton of potential next season, and Easton may be a key factor in turning this program around.   Good JV highlights below- reminds me of a few other Grand Haven quarterbacks, and I mean that in both good and bad ways.   First off, Easton has an arm. His first couple of highlights show deep BOMBS, which are also pretty darn accurate. Then, plays like 0:31 show a willingness to run the ball. That right there is most of his tape.   That said, I love that Easton is able to throw the ball deep downfield with good accuracy. What I don't like is the lack of short-intermediate yardage throws. I'd love to see Easton throw more on-time in the pocket short passes. Regardless, Easton should be on the Rankings in February.      Gavin has some great highlights against great teams. He's a BIG part of the future of this program.   Not too fancy of an evaluation- Gavin hits his holes, runs hard, and has the athleticism + contact balance to consistently earn more yards than the average RB. Moving forward, I'd absolutely love to see some of Gavin's testing numbers. With good numbers and consistent work in the weight room, Gavin could realistically develop into a great GLIAC prospect.      I can't believe I haven't talked about [player_tooltip player_id='1613883' first='Owen' last='Haarsma'] yet. Well, now I am, and he'll 100% be ranked come February. His tape is filled with explosive runs, made by a combination of great speed and vision. Watch the play at 0:13- it's a broken play, but Owen continues to follow his blocks, cuts back, then finds the outside for a 30-yard gain.   That said, I think Owen is a D2 prospect. I love the speed, love the vision, but I don't see much contact balance. Still, an amazing high school running back with a VERY high ceiling.      Kendrick has good all-around tape, and he did something with these highlights that I very rarely see- he leads off with two blocking highlights. First highlight- a huge pancake hit on the EDGE rusher (playing H-Back). Second, another pancake on a lead block.   Then, the tape goes into a few targets. His third highlight (0:23) shows a solid 10-yard out. Next, several more blocking highlights followed by a great reception and RAC (flat route).   So, Kendrick is physical, runs OK routes, and he's tall. Already checking a lot of boxes, I expect Kendrick to take a big step forward next season. D3 prospect in my eyes.      Guess what? Another Hudsonville receiver.   Some good plays too. The first highlight I'll point toward is at 0:11. Carter runs a pretty solid 10-yard out, with some great footwork on the top of his route. Then, he avoids a tackle via spin move before breaking another tackle then running out of bounds. At 0:42, he runs an ok slant before making a great concentration catch on a poorly thrown ball.   Generally, Carter was a great JV football player this season. His hands look very good, he runs better routes than most JV players, and he is an above-average athlete. With a good offseason, Carter could have a major breakout 2025 season!
