Quiet Quarterbacks? Five Under-the-Radar Gunslingers

There are several quarterbacks in Ohio getting the attention they rightfully deserve, but there are still several who are a threat to slip through the recruiting cracks. Here are five names to know who might turn heads at college camps this summer.    Wolford put together a solid junior season, throwing for 1,968 yards and 25 touchdowns with just five interceptions. The All-Conference selection has a nice mixture of good touch and velocity on the deep ball.     Samsal has good footwork, quickly setting his feet and throwing with accuracy. He is can also run and be gone if he finds green grass. He has a good arm and can launch the ball nicely on deep passes.     While his fit in college is likely at linebacker, Lucas is a solid dual-threat gunslinger, and he can be very hard to bring down. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback has a thick frame to run through contact. He can throw with good velocity in the short/intermediate game. He doubles as a linebacker on defense, where his good closing speed and bulk give him heavy-hitting ability.     Schreck finished ninth in Ohio in passing yardage in 2024, throwing for 2,819 yards. Tall and highly-productive, Schreck can throw with good accuracy in the short/intermediate game and led the Fighting Tigers to a state championship.     Frey's father, Greg, was a quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Frey is looking to follow in his father's footsteps. Frey can quickly set his feet and pull the trigger, exhibiting a quick release. He displays good timing and touch on the deep ball.
