Happy New Year's Eve! As we put a bow on 2024 we must also put a bow on the 2024 season. That means it is time to crown the 2024 Prep Redzone Wisconsin Player of the Year. After an exciting season we began this process with 40+ athletes who best represented what we looked for. An athlete with outstanding production, who plays for a playoff qualifying team, and was responsible for a very significant chunk of the team's overall production. Through a few rounds of eliminations we got to this point. 11 finalists who all have their own argument for the honor, but in the end only one athlete can earn the honor. After a lot of comparison, analysis, and thought we have made our decision. Make sure to congratulate the athlete and continue reading to see why they were the final choice. Without anymore hesitation or delay, your 2024 Prep Redzone Wisconsin Player of the Year is...

Looking at the broad picture, Christian checked every box we looked for. He was the focal point of the offense on a team that finished 2024 with a State Championship and undefeated season. He led the state in rushing yards by almost 400 yards and rushing TDs by 5. Christian wrapped up his illustrious career as the State's #5 rusher on the all time charts. Everything about his career pointed towards this award coming his way, and in his senior season he locked it up. However, it wasn't just the big picture that tells us why Collins is our Player of the Year. When you dive into his weekly performances you realize that not only was he otherworldly productive, but clutch as well. Let's dive in a little further.

Christian actually missed Week 3 & 4, but when he returned the senior went absolutely nuclear. He had 20+ carries in 8 of the final 9 games and in the one game he didn't have 20+ the senior still scored 3 TDs and eclipsed 200 yards rushing. In the biggest games and moments Notre Dame leaned on Collins. Notre Dame started the year with some legitimate competition facing off against Kaukuana and De Pere. Christian combined for 65 carries in those two games to help pull off one possession wins both weeks. Then after the time off Green Bay Notre Dame again leaned on the senior in the biggest moments. Especially when the playoffs rolled around and Collins carried the ball a minimum of 31 times every game from Level 1 through the State Championship. In those five games the senior RB had 1 200+ yard game, 3 300+ yard games, and saved his best for last when he went for 409 yards in the State Championship. A total that was enough to set the State Championship Single Game Record. Another notch in his belt of impressive accomplishments was that when Collins did return in Week 5 the senior scored 3 or more TDs in every single game including 5 games where he ran in 5 TDs.

The numbers and the wins and the records are all unbelievable. So is the way the team and Christian went about their business. Every week it was very clear what the gameplan was going to be. Every fan, opponent, media member, and probably every stranger knew the ball was going to be handed to [player_tooltip player_id='1180699' first='Christian' last='Collins'], yet through an entire season not a single team was able to stop them from doing what they wanted. This is an individual award, but really it could go to the entire team because to be able to execute a game plan like that so effectively takes the entire team.

Looking forward, Christian is currently uncommitted. Since his historic State Championship Game the senior RB has earned an offer from Dayton to go along with a roster offer from UW-Oshkosh. I'm excited to see where he ends up because a team is going to swoop in here and get a steal for their program. Give the kid a look. His season long highlights are attached below. Congratulations, Christian on being named the 2024 Prep Redzone Wisconsin Player of the Year! It was unbelievable watching you play and produce the way you did the past few years!
